How about a civil court grand jury?

You know, some body of regular people that decided if a case is actually valid?

Backdoors

Taken From Website

Moreover, the Starforce drivers, installed on your system, grant ring 0 (system level) privileges to any code under the ring 3 (user level) privileges. Thus, any virus or trojan can get OS privileges and totally control your system. Since Windows 2000, the Windows line security and stability got enhanced by separating those privileges, but with the Starforce drivers, the old system holes and instabilities are back and any program (or virus) can reach the core of your system by using the Starforce drivers as a backdoor.

LEVEL 0 ACCESS IS ONLY FOR OS AND REAL HARDWARE imagine what would happen if a bug happens in there. thats right a format is gonna be needed afer a starware Malware on your system

Re: Backdoors

Best tell Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%, etc that Ring 0 is only for real hardware. Their virtual drives seem to operate at Ring 0. As do some Antivirus products.

See my previous post regarding Mark Russinovich's assessment of the program.

Anyone taking a website named Boycott Starforce as being definitive information about the product they are encouraging a boycott of is being a little naive.

No proof is offered at all.

There's no code extract showing a way to shove information into the Starforce driver, cause an overflow and compromise a machine.

Someone show me an expoit (apart from the potential issue that was never exploited and was patched a long time ago) then I'll agree.

Re: starforce

So do you. Both statements equally without proof. Give proof or go away

Starforce Malware

As a computer technician myself, I would NOT recommend anyone use or install software that uses starforce protection. Not only does it cause certain software applications to malfunction, but other games/applications may not run properly if it is installed by another game.

Re: Starforce Malware

How does one know if Starforce is in a game that is a potential purchase?

As a network engineer with experience in reverse engineering (like this matters) I would suggest people ignore you and just carry on as they are. The amount of people who have Starforce products running just fine outnumber those with issues *potentially* due to the protection by about 10,000 to 1.

Try decompiling the way the thing works before you comment on it or start quoting posts from what is basically a board dedicated to copying Starforce (so full of warez monkeys all upset because it's good at what it does). It does do some slightly weird stuff but it's fundamentally stable.

Not That People Will Care As It Makes Sense But...

The guy who reversed the Sony rootkit stating that he couldn't see any major issues with Starforce.

Sorry to interrupt the accusations of malware with facts from a well respected professional.
