50,000 Podcast and Nothing On

To me it comes down to content, content and content. Gripe number one. I do not want to listen to a five minute excerpt, I want the whole show. There are many radio shows I listen to but all I can get are a one to five minute Podcast. There are a lot of good but too short. Grip two; I tried to listed some independent radio shows I found on posdact.com. The problem is many of theses shows are just rank amateurs that no nothing about broadcasting

The problem is calling it a "Podcast"

People think you need an I-pod just to listen to it. While you might for pod casts done in the actual I-pod format (whatever thats called).

Most of them I have seen are done in MP3 format so any MP3 player can play them.

Why not just call them MP3's?

Fact, I know someone who thoght podcasts were actual broadcasts from an I-pod. So he ran out and bought one and was rather dissapointed to find out the I-pod could not broadcast anything.

Re: The problem is calling it a "Podcast"

I thought I was a late adopter, I listen to 2 NPR podcasts, ESPN, ABC, and CNN. Update every morning to get me through my commute.

Re: Rush Limbaugh

Thats because thease people need to be told what to think and store several of Rush's podcasts so they can refer to it before making any decisions.

Who cares

Who cares how many are listening? When an industry appeals to the masses the industry usually goes down the hill to appeal to the lowest common denominator, just look at FM Radio.

I personally listen to:
This Week In Tech
KFI Tech Guy
Inside The Net
Security Now
Daily GizWhiz
Digital Life.TV
What’s New Now
Dawn & Drew Show
Paranormal Podcast
Paranormal Broadcast System
Republican Radio
Right March Patriotism In Action
Up In Smoke Vidcast

With XM and Sirius receivers at both home and in my car, Music Choice on Time Warner and a 30GB iPod 1/8th full with 800 songs and a bunch of podcasts I always have something entertaining to listen to without having to listen to that shit known as local terrestrial radio.

???

I find it hard to believe that such boring content is even listened to at all that must explain the 1% though. Podcasts suck but that is just my personal opinion nothing more....

I enjoy Podcasts

I think its great. I just started listening about 2 months ago. I love listening to Security now from TWIT.tv. I download it and listen to it on my way to work each week. I agree, I dont really like the name. But oh well.
