How'd they get her info?

If they are suing her and she doesn't own a computer, how did they get her information?

They most likely went to google and entered random phone numbers until they got a hit, at times it seems like that's what the RIAA does.

ok? The RIAA resorted to just drawing names out of a hat.

Most likely, bad info from an ISP responsible for the offending IP address.

Possible scenario: Previous owner of house downloads or uploads music and has an account with ISP. New owner moves in and establishes a TV video account, but no internet access. ISP gets subpoena. Checks IP address and matches it with an account address from logs at time of offense. Address given to RIAA. Lawsuit undertaken. Sloppy work all around by ISP and RIAA lawyers.

The RIAA has got to be the stupidest organization I have ever seen. I can't wait to see the day that they get shut down.

Much more believable than the first idea.

How can this keep happening??

Seriously, someone should sue these guys for un do pain and suffering, I mean imagine one day you walk to your mailbox and see a letter saying your being sued for thousands of dollars but yet you know your inicient (seeing as these people don't own a computer to start with)

Why doesn't these people sue the RIAA for Pain and suffering, getting their facts wrong and anything else people can think of heck get a paper cut opening the letter, sue them for injury if they would of just got the right people the paper cut would of never happened.

Gotta love the Amercian Justice system folks I hope that the inocent people who are inocent in cases such as this stand up for themselves.

 Name this song

I have this song in my head; all I remember is the lyrics "Can I get an !@ " Don't know the name of the song but I wish more people would sing it when dealing with the RIAA!

Re: How'd they get her info?

They supposedly only lived at their current address for under a year. So odds are it was the people who lived their before that downloaded the music. Or in the end it could have just been a database error, or human error when looking up information.

The real question here is...

Who doesn't own a computer these days? That's a pretty amazing feat for a family (especially with kids, what with myspace and all).

Oil industry earning RECORD profits.
Apple Computer Inc: RECORD profits, erhmm I mean profits from the RIAA's records, er recordings.. hehehe.

I'm shocked they can't find someone reasonable, like an OIL COMPANY board of directors family, or a gas-station gouging owner's family. Sheesh, ya know, go where the money really is... you can't pick on the little people 25/8/369!!!

Hopefully someone will aid them in sueing RIAA for malicious prosecution and get a zillion bucks out of it. That should make them think once or twice before going on these witch hunts???
