Nice

It looks MUCH nicer than the old blue/yellow/grey thing.

I'd be interested to see actual performance numbers.

Nice design

Linksys changed the design from looking like tinker-toys to a Transformer.

This might actually be the final piece the Autobots need to destroy the evil forces of the Decepticons!

This is the 3rd vendor that has come out with 802.11n draft compliant products. Looks like the "n" bandwagon is underway. I look forward to reading actual experiences from BBR members in the wireless networking forum: »Wireless Networking

Looks nice,

That's about it. 4x range and 12x speed? Let's see an independent company make that claim. Coming from Linksys that doesn't mean much. They used to base every speed claim on the slowest 802.11B router..

Meh

I'll wait. Seeing as I rarely transfer insane files between laptops, and Comcast will likely never surpass my D-Link's speeds... no rush to get something like this.
Price should come down later too... save my cash for something useful now(like more memory!).

Some of the performance I've seen in the various magazines puts the N stuff right at 100Mbps of actual throughput.

I'm curious to see if that holds out as retail samples hit the shelves and people start actually using it in places other than "simulated test environments".

I have tried to see things from your point of view, but no matter how hard I try, or what I do, I just can't get my head that far up my ass.

Re: Meh

Show me it has a fast processor, has a lot of memory, runs on Linux, and is open so we can mess with it, and I'll consider it. Otherwise, no dice.

Also, will there be any performance/range increases for those who have G cards in their systems already? I am not about to go out and buy an N card. My laptop has a G card built-in.

Agreed. I will not buy 1st generation overpriced hardware. Also with my WRT56GS and it's huge antennae I should be just fine for a while.

This is not even 1st gen, its pre-1st gen. Buying equipment base on draft standards is not the brighest thing to do.

Might be time

To upgrade from my anchient Orinoco AP-1000 b only AP.

Wonder how long after the draft is approved we'll see A/B/G/N cards come out.

I have aused pre-n stuff

If you get a pre-n router then your g card will connect to it always at full speed.

N specs allow g and b to work together at their full speeds.

My gf uses a pre-n card(netgear) with a normal linksys router (802.11g) and she gets full 54mbps anywhere in her house .

I will be buying one of those 802.11n routers because I have used a card based on n specs and it is better in range and speed

Robbie the robot or a modern take on the TV-Top UHF antenna?
