| The Best of Both Worlds The "dilema" at hand in these coffee shops is just silly. These restaurant owners want to draw in the young, hip, tehno savvy crowd, but get upset when the customers aren't sipping down 2 $8 cups of coffee per hour. I live in this area and I have been in all of the shops in this article and I have seen these scenes played out.
A simple solution if the restaurant owners were willing to invest a few dollars into their network and POS systems would be to provide a password on the reciept that would entitle the patron to 1 hour of Wi-Fi access...at the end of the hour it shuts off, if they want to keep using the Wi-Fi then they have to purchase another beverage or food item.
I personally get upset with my boss when he tries to plan a meeting at Panera because it has free Wi-Fi and doesn't buy his team lunch (or even a cup of coffee) and then decides to camp out their the rest of the day. | |

| Business If you don't want the business of wi fi users, just don't offer wifi. There is a give and take with any business model.
