Better things to come

I think the subscribers are better off with either TWC or Comcast, that's clear. How much better off is the question..

TW cable is coming to my area in Los Angeles. How does TW rate and what services do they offer?

Anything is better than Adelphia after it was robbed blind by its crooked owners. Now maybe those users will see the completion of system upgrades so that they can get more channels and better package deals.

Customers won't notice a difference right off the bat

Most customers won't notice a difference right away since most local employees will be the same. Customers will see incremental changes. IMO most subs will be better off with TW and Comcast.

Disclaimer- Comcast employee

LOL

Sad but true: I have family (not far from you in Rockville) currently using Comcast HSI, and it's anything but high speed -- their node is saturated.

Adelphia in my area has been pretty darn good, with the exception of at least one or two thunderstorms disrupting service a month.

Embarq (the new Sprint) is my only other option, and those jokers can't seem to bring their prices down in order to lure Adelphia subs. I'd go 1500k for 2/3 the Adelphia price, no problem. Hell, give me 768 for $19.95; these $100+ cable/inet bills are ridiculous. More so with gas & everything else going up.

while this is true, hopefully TW or Comcast will move in and fire some district managers/regional managers to get the ball rolling on moving the infrastructure in the right direction.

Had you been a subscriber or been part of Adelphia workforce since the bankruptcy you would have seen a tremendous improvement. System upgrades are pretty much complete and there was improvement in every facet of the company. The Adelphia Forum is testament to this today.

I'll be sorry to see them go

Although I haven't been a customer for too long, I've been very happy with their service which for me and many others I'm sure, has been very good.

How often do you find an ISP that gives you 400k over your rated speeds on the downside and almost 60k more on the upside making a 4000/384 package really 4400/440 instead?

And, that's not just for me either. Judging by a recent poll I conducted that was pretty much the standard around the country as well.

I know other ISP's since this time have raised speeds to 6MB and more but things have been on hold somewhat at adelphia pending this switchover, which is why although I'm sorry to see them go, if it's to be then lets get on with it.

As for prices, Adelphia has been very reasonable on that front for me as well, with their ultimate package which is everything they have including HDTV..4 premiums, HSI..for 119.65 per month. Add to that would be 7.95 for the Hi Def digital receiver.

Not too shabby and quite frankly it beat even a dish/dsl combo when I compared their uppermost packages.

And so, in summary, it really isn't Adelphia that failed, nor their service or great employees.

It was the greed at the top and nothing else.

Why this is when someone has so much anyway is really one of those mysteries of life but perhaps it gives credence to the saying that for some people, enough is never enough.

I think that's sad. For them. As people.

And the result of their actions is sad for many others.

Just as SNET here in Ct. became SBC and now, AT&T..
so too will Tele~media that became Adelphia, now become
Comcast.

At the core of these new companies however will hopefully be many of the same names and faces that made them the companies that has long delivered very good service to many.

Good luck to all.

I hope it will all work out.

Re: Better things to come

As an Adelphia customer,I already seen improvements in my service. My area was upgraded back in 1997 and in the last couple of years have seen more upgrades taking place and new services offered.

Actually, I would prefer that Adelphia stay its own entity. I have had nothing but good experiences in my almost 2 years as a customer.

I agree with most of what you have said. Great improvements have gone on. But, you and I both know that is not why the Adelphia forum seems to be a "testament" of that.

Adelphia Has Been OUTSTANDING For Me

I have been an Adelphia customer for about 4 years now & I have been very happy with there service. In fact my HSI has only gone down maybe 3 times in 4 years. there a little expensive, but I think all the cable companies are pretty expensive.

.. and there are MANY people that enjoy their service. The same can be said in regards to ALL providers out there be it cable OR telephone.

I hate Qwest telephone with a passion, but many still love them.

Goodbye Comcast!

The transition site says I'll be on Roadrunner by the end of the month!

I'll pray for the adelphia people getting absorbed by Comcast. You guys are in for a big screwing!
