The majority of Alaska is paying $50/month for 320K/240K, wanna know why? There isn't any other options outside of Anchorage.

| | Even if combo wins license, years before any rollout
Even if DirecTV and Echostar win wireless spectrum at auction, it will be years before any real rollout takes place. If people are betting on some big Wimax infrastructure being in place soon, they will be disappointed. -- -- Join Red Room Forum BLOG tkjunkmail.blogspot.com My Web Page

| | | Re: Even if combo wins license, years before any rollout It shouldn't be years before we start seeing these roll-outs. These guys are most likely going to jump on existing towers in place from wireless carries. Most localities require wireless carriers to share their towers which keeps their numbers down. I can see that maybe by the Q2 or Q3 of 2007, we will see a major rollout. | |

So they would have to agree on a rental rate, which could take months, years. Then the actually network design and ordering of circuits. 3 yrs minimum -- the darkest moment is often just before dawn (unless we hold onto the darkness). Anxiety spoils everything and solves nothing.

I have resigned myself to at least one year more and probably two as a customer of our wonderful local comcast franchise.

| | Is Wimax also a LoS product? I am curious if Wimax is a LoS product like the other wireless services out there? There is a wireless tower 10 miles away that services Bath, but because of mounatains and trees, I don't have direct LoS. Will this be something to look forward to in the future? Just trying to find a real broadband service I may be able to jump on. | |

It is not LoS but just like a small radio if you are in a valley and the tower is on the other side of the mountain, then no it could not get a signal to you. If the tower is on top of the mountain and trees and buildings are in the way it will pass through them.
|
| | | | Re: Is Wimax also a LoS product? Okay, it still wouldn't work then. I think it is up on a mountain, but there are several other mountains in between me and the tower and they are higher then it. | |
