Ask Verizon and they will tell you they do not cherry pick and roll it out everywhere. As those here on DSLR that don't have a clue and they will tell you the same thing. ASk others and they will tell you most certainly that the more affluent are getting it first and not necessarily being rolled out to the more populated areas while not looking at wealth. -- FWD#: 223611

| keep 30mb down I just want the 5 up. 50Mb is overkill TODAY...though it will be useful later. (i dont want IPTV unless I can only get and pay for the 5 channels I watch)
but the 5mb up is something to cheer about. -- "WHEN THE LAUGH TRACK STARTS THEN THE FUN STARTS!"

| ughh "10 Mbps downstream and 2 Mbps upstream (increased from 5/2 in May) Suited for Internet surfing and basic computer functions. $34.95 a month with a one-year agreement, or $39.95 month-to-month."
Err... I would say overly-suited. I cringe at the thought of Mr. and Mrs. Applebee who don't use the internet, but their 4 kids IM and MySpace all day long on 10/2 FIOS service. I actually have needs for that kind of speed. Come to my side of the street, Verizon. I want it too

| WTF? Is this a weakness in the current ONT architecture? Why is it NOT symmetric or at least 10mbit on the upstream (you need to throw people a BONE on the upstream, even if its 2 mbit more)?
As for thos thinking of it:
Its TWICE the $ price $ for only 20mbit more down... Weird...!
I'm also wondering why this shoe dropped NOW? Is cablevision planning to unveil a similar plan in the immediate future?

| How come? Why is the East Coast so far a head of the rest of the country in terms of internet speed (parts of NY, NJ, and CT specifically)? Is it simply because of competition between Verizon and OOL, or are there other reasons? Why doesn't Verizon compete with AT&T, TW or CC elsewhere in the U.S.? Is it because AT&T, TW and CC have such a large customer base compared to OOL? Or perhaps because each ISP has its own designated service areas? By the time most of the West Coast gets 1mbit upload, the East Coast will have 5mbit+.
Still, congrats to those lucky enough to have these faster services avaialable to them. I shouldn't be complaining since I at least have broadband whereas many other ppl in the U.S. don't.

| Its a little bit of this, a little bit of that... Its a price increase in disguise...
See, the 30/5 tier must be costing too much, so: make a 50/5 tier, charge $35 more for it, and all is well in the kingdom of FiOS.
**caveat; original 30/5 customers can keep current tier, so they're not KICKING you off your underpriced service. Needless to say, Verizon needs some extra CASH for the ONT gear replacements..

| SNET/SBC/AT&T ***SUCKS*** Why oh WHY did SBC have to be the company that bought up the old and antiquated (and absolutely horrible) company formerly known as SNET? SNET was such a joke that, to this day, there's still roughly 60 - 70% of the state without DSL access as SNET/SBC wouldn't upgrade their copper and won't install remote terminals. Since a good portion of the state lives way more than the maximum distance from the CO for DSL, this will probably never happen.
If Verizon had bought SNET, the entire state would probably be wired with fiber by now. All I can say is thank GOD for Comcast. If it weren't for them, I'd still be on 56k where I live. I hope SNET/SBC/AT&T goes down the tubes... company's absolutely useless.

| Upload C'mon verizon, this is fibre! not cable or another medium. break out with the syncronous packages already. 5/5, 10/10, 30/30, 50/50. fibre is very capable of better upload than a paltry 5mbps. -- You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth | |

| Why Whine? I don't know why all of you people are whining about not being able to upgrade from your 6mbps, cable, or whatever..
I'm on DSL at home, and i'm so damn far away from the CO It's unstable
Oh well, it's fast, and I was on 56k for years. Why don't you guys just be happy w/ what you got? Why don't they wire it out to the more Rural Areas? WHY!

I'd just wish they'd start producing alot more cheap ethanol hybrid cars that get 50-100mpg, this $3.25+ gas is killing the ordinary consumer!! Its entirely possible both Verizon and Cablevision might pay a huge price (as well as others) if the economy goes into the crapper because a few [insert muslim insult here] can't stop playing with the jews.

| I heard that long_dong prayed for 37 inches rather than the 36 he had. Such a shame, this shortchanging thing. I make sure now that while filling up I lock eyes with the guy driving the newest V8 4x4, freshly waxed and never off the pavement or carried a load heavier than the weekend groceries. Such a shame. He's getting 11mpg in city when he could be getting 8 and have 40 more HP. Tsk, tsk ...
