Poor them

"Time Warner, Viacom, Fox, Sony, NBC Universal and Disney claim they're being ruined by another kind of pirate of they created – people who use the p2p networks to share files, including digital movies and music, with each other."

Bahahaha, this is some hilarious stuff.

the only people that don't know this are in Congress

everybody seems to know the studios are blowing smoke out their @ss with their "pirates are ruining the movie business" rhetoric, except the idiots in congress.

Although, I guess it's hard to see this thru all the dollar signs clouding their vision.

Proof

Looks like this is proof to me that piracy doesn't ruin anything to the extent that the studios claim. I don't know the numbers exactly off the top of my head, but this summer there are quite a few movies in the $100 to $200 million dollar range. I don't know either how it compares to last year when just about every movie out was a shitty reproduction. Maybe those dumb bastards at the MPAA will see this trend and finally realize piracy doesn't hurt them; making shitty movies hurts them. Pirates of the Caribbean 2 was sold out the opening weekend at most theatre's around here at least, I don't remember that happening at all last summer.

WAKE UP MPAA, STOP WASTING MONEY FIGHTING PIRACY, USE IT TO MAKE BETTER MOVIES - IT WORKS.

People are always going to find a way to get things for free and if they can't they aren't going to watch the movie anyhow. It's not a lost sale at all, it's a non-sale.

So...

The reason why people go view blockbusters such as that one is because the scenary and special effects. I doubt you'll get the best out of it from a CAM.
I went to see the movie and was BLOWN away!
Same thing for X3.

A small issue when it comes to movies

In my opinion, movies on illegal P2P networks aren't cutting into sales much. Sure, you will have people that would download a crappy videocam version to watch at home if they liked the flick. A majority of them won't sit around the computer monitor to watch a movie like that though. The quality is crap and the sound is crap as well. Even the DVD-R rips of movies have sound and quality issues.

They will probably be more nervous when more people have DVD burners with Dual Layer and the dual layer discs become much cheaper.

In my opinion, the one thing holding back people from pirating movies is the fact that it just isn't cost feasable yet and the quality sucks if you compress the movies. Dual layer disks are coming down in price to about $2-$3 a piece. Maybe when more dual layer drives are out in the mainstream and dual layer disks are cheaper than movies being pirated will be more of an issue. That is not far off from today by the way.

Just goes to show...

Make a GOOD movie like Spider-man 2 or Pirates and people will go out, pay the high price for tickets, popcorn etc, deal with crowds, crying babies, people who can't shut up during the movie and ringing cellphones to see it on the big screen.

Make sh!t movies like Basic Instinct 2, From Justin to Kelly and Doom you may get a few people to download it for free.

Who knew a good movie would make money?

Wow studios need to now learn stop putting out shit and people will go see your movie. Their also watering down their own market by putting out so many movies so forking fast.

It costs far to much to go to a movie now $8 for the tickets plus the gas it costs to get to the damn place. Also factor in if you have kids you know they will want pop-corn and a soda to go with that.

I loved this movie I wanted to also see Superman but I think movies cost to much and they come to DVD so fast I will see only the ones that need to be seen on the big screen like pirates or Lord of the Rings type movies.

Stop bring shit out so forking fast and I may go to the movies more.

Also they will still say yeah it made 300 mill but if it were not for the damn dirty pirates it would have made 400 mill or more. I got bad news them download people were never going to the movie. They never plan to go see a movie they download.

Another reason...

There's also the prices of bigger screen TVs becoming more affordable. More and more people are upgrading to big HDTVs. There's countless people selling their TVs on craigslist due to an upgrade. With netflix and similar services around, some people would rather wait for the movie to come out on DVD and watch it at home on a big TV with a nice surround sound system. The money people spend on a movie ticket, drinks, and popcorn every month could make a small payment on a bigger TV. Either that or join the credit card revolution and carry an average debt of $25,000 like everyone else.

Plus I can just stop the movie when I got to piss. Man I had go to bathroom during pirates I was in the middle row. I'm not small guy now it was it was pain trying to get over everyone. I had to piss during most of the movie.

Like I said I would go see superman but I saw pirates and I won't spend allot of money on going to the movies. If Superman would have come out next month I would have gone to see it. So there goes $20 bucks Hollywood is not going to get from me.

Also with the price of gas and shit going up the first thing people stop doing to save money is their hobby's. Gee should I go to a movie and spend $20 for 2 hours or go to a state park and spend the whole day and enjoy myself for free.

I remember back in the day I would order anime like every two weeks. Now I order some every few months. Now I play WOW or I just video game it's a good value dollar hobby. I also used to read comics but quit that shit got to cost to damn much. I just get comic trades form time to time now and read manga good stores and it's damn cheap.

The movie theater SUCKS

I havent been to a movie (theater) in over 3 years. In fact, I havent been to the movies more than 4 times in the past 10 years. I absolutely HATE the movie theater. I do however, watch around 3 movies per week at home.

Option 1: Deal with offensive crowds, sticky floors, freezing rooms, horrible "chairs", and absurdly expensive tickets and food.

Option 2: Wait for the DVD, sit on my couch, watch my 52 inch HDTV and put my feet up, pause the movie if I need a break, USE MY OWN DAMN BATHROOM, eat/drink from my fully stocked refrigerator for free.

Tough choice isnt it!!

PS. I have NEVER watched or downloaded a pirated movie. I used to use Netflix, but now I am an On-Demand junkie.

So true, I visited the can at a local theater. On the wall in front of me was a paper sign taped to the wall it said "back up with a hard one, and get a hot one" I looked over and there was some clown sitting on a toilet with his pant pulled up with an expectant look on his face. I half expected to see someone knocking on a door to a toilet stall with a bouquet of flowers.
