Nothing Lost

Rupert's just a greedy moneychanger ,and doesn't know how to build a national network. Loan sharking and screwing people out pensions is easier!

 Murdoch dropping back a surprise

I must admit this is surprising. From all the pre-auction hype, it sounded like the DirecTV/Echostar group was going to push hard so they could get heavily into land based wireless. Either they weren't financed well enough to keep bidding, or they are holding back and going to bet big at the end. It is like a poker game. Is Murdoch sandbagging or is he tapped out?

on little guys

I think that there will be a lot of little guys to munch on who obtain the wireless licenses, either "go under" or get a late-term white knight investor. A bunch of companies are doing "unlimited wireless" plans and broadband plans which are orders of magnitude below the big 4: verizon, att/cingular, tmobile, sprint.

So, we'll see how it plays out. Unlimited wireless plans are around $199 for sprint, so if companies can come in and cut the legs off of a plan like that, anything is possible.

Sounds like another left-wing communist troll that is upset that Rupert Murdoch actually put out a network that has news that does not tilt towards communist and is not pro-terrorist. In the communist world, all media must agree with communism!

hmm

"wireless DBS"

When they say that the first thing that comes to mind is the XM/Sirius satellite antenna's small & compact although probably not able to deliver video but maybe broadband like speeds to people who need/want it?

But that would not make any sense with the spectrum auction I suppose.

I don't care who buys it

as long as it's not a 'private' band and offer equipment that operates on it to professional wireless providers looking to get in on a frequency that's not overrun with consumer gear.
That would greatly help the wireless ISP market.

Fox News...Fair and Balanced. Sure, fair and balanced to the right.

CNN. Clinton News Network. Slanted to the left.

Have yet to see anyone TRULY unbiased. Dont' think I will.

Guess I can't be accused of being conservative or liberal after that statment. But I guess someone will accuse me of something...

Re: Murdoch dropping back a surprise

You can't "hold back and bet big at the end"; according to the FCC's rules, if you don't keep bidding, you lose the ability to bid. Wireless DBS's bidding activity has dropped to the point where they're basically out of it.
