Looks Cool

It does look cool. But, If you want to surf the web. You still need that keyboard.

Can someone invent a replacement for the good ole keyboard?

Wii or not wee

My daughter and most of her friends are saying the PS3 is the way to go. Supposedly none of them are liking the Wii hype. There are a few xbox lovers, but they are the ones more into death and destruction and say that only xbox has that genre in sufficient quantities.

Your acquaintances may vary.

No thanks, XBOX 1 was my last console. It does look cool but in a few years they will probably develop it for computers.

They won't be able to get one most likely. Only 400,000 machines are slated for North America this year. And they're going at a rate of around $500 for the base system and $600 for the premium system.

Bleh. hehe.

Makes you wonder what they are thinking. Max profit with limited release? Going to irritate a lot of kids and parents.

Oh boy! A major broadband console![/sarcasm]

Us 56Kers just keep getting pushed aside more and more with each passing week....it sickens me.

I like the Nintendo Wii quite a bit, but I doubt I'll be able to participate in it's online activities much...curse you 56K! Oh, wait, too late....

more than likely you wont get one(PS3) unless you fork out 3000 bucks on ebay and if you dont have newer model HDTV its no point

the Wii do have usb ports I wonder if you can hook a usb keyboard up to it

We have BB, but the console is not connected. So to me that is a waste. The important part is the game play and graphics of the PS2, that is what the kids here like and think the PS3 will have more of.

I'm getting a Wii keep it for 2 years by that time PS3 and Xbox 360 should be at a reasonable price thats when I'll get one of them also by that time you'll know who's really winning the Blu-Ray vs HD-DVD war

Wii

You can use the Wii with a 56k connection for basic play and game downloads. Thats not too big of a deal. Go on ebay, pick up a router that has dial up modem built in for about$15-$20, the router will do the dialing, and then all your computers/game counsols will connect to the router via standard ethernet. It will of cource be only dial up speeds, and your game downloads will be slow, again, at dial up speeds, but it will still only take about 30 seconds to download a classic NES game, since their between 100 and 400 killobytes in size, about 3-5 minutes for a NES game, at a few megs in size.

N64 may be a problem, as those games range from 20-190 megabytes in size, but still dooable. You can also still browse the net, and email during the time the Wii is downloading, as the router will split your dial up into multuple ethernet connections.

I did this when I first got Phantasy star onle. I got the Broadband adaptor, and already had a dial up router. I did this because I didnt want to have to purchase a BBA once I got high speed.

Re: Wii or not wee

I see you increased your ebay bid. Actually, I guess it all depends on what you want. Most kids around here compared the games and then looked at the hardware. PS3 is what most of them liked.

PS3 being the way to go?...well, I'll have mine on November 19th, and it's staying in my closet until the 2nd week of December when it goes up for auction

How sweet will it be to be able to play Super Mario Kart, Mariokart 64, Mariokart Double Dash all on the same system? Oh boy!

I once had a dream that Sean Connery stayed at my apt., and he had his laptop with Win98 on it, and he knew how to connect to my wireless network. I don't do drugs

Re: Wii

seems to me the speculation over the PS3 has got the Nintendo base of customers more worried then their flawed broadband system. I look at it as the next Virtual Boy; lots of hype, a lackluster product that gives you headaches all the while seeing red. And thats without the VB!

The PS3 isnt even COMPARABLE to the Wii, ask the Wii fanboys. Its like comparing Apples to PC's...lots of people like both, but we all know who's the one keeping the computer market going.

also, I applaud Nintendo for forcing you to buy peripherals to get the most enjoyment out of the broadband service. Less you like typing with a controller, chat fucntions should be strictly headset.

Add in the fact that you'll have to basically augment your controller to play many games "the way they were meant to be played", and its very easy to see how their next system will make em money. No, not Zelda dummy. The Zelda Orcarina Flute peripheral. hehe
