Too much..

Too much mergin' goin' on 'round here!

Everyone wants to merge with someone else anymore. Time/Warner was almost destroyed by their merger with AOL, Exxon Merged with Mobil, can't remember who Texaco merged with, and the list goes on and on.

I'm all for free markets, but I think government agencies should be pre disposed to denying mergers that approving them. They're almost never good for the customer..

Yeah, probably related to overlapping wireless spectrum.

AT&T is Back

Now they can finally replace the long distance cash cow with transport tolls.

Here is the map and how it will look when the merger is approved:

If you look at the map and see how Verizon wants out of Maine & Vermont, they are coming in 3rd in this horse race. Even Fios may not save them in the long run.

The paraphrase was to make fun of a previous member of Congress.

I have no particular opposition to this merger. In fact, I know pretty much nothing about it. Just trying to make a funny.

I think I hear crickets.....

I didn't know Qworst "served" so many states. Maine will soon be "Joe's Telecom."

Anyone else immediately think of Risk when seeing this?

Interesting map, as I'm unfamiliar with who provides where.

Why is Embarq not on that map?

Funny isn't it? I remember the running joke when I used to work at Qwest on the unregulated data side was that we had more barb wire than local customers.

There was a footnote on the map. Small non-RBOC companies aren't displayed to keep map simple.

Great...

So, does that mean Bellsouth customers can expect to start having their traffic routed over AT&T's aging backbone infrastructure ?

Cox is certainly looking good again...

Re: Too much..

Embarq is a RBOC, but serves a city here, a city there.

If in Tallahassee, Embarq is your provider.

The map came from here. »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_B···_company If you think it has major errors, feel free to post a modified map.

Only problem with that map is, it's not entirely accurate. Verizon provides service in states like WA, and OR, as does Qwest.
