Sounds like a nice little tool for those on the road a lot with their full size camper or trailer and have need for access outside of campgrounds that now often provide internet access.

I don't get the hype?? The same thing can be accomplished with any decent cell repeater system these guys are just marketing it differently. Heck most people would be better off just using an exterior antenna and an evdo to wifi router w/ Sprint or Vz service saving $800. |

Waddy, KY | Scratch that, kr1 or lynksys router is $249, a decent trucker antenna is $70, adapter cord is $8 and if you really feel the need for an amp then add $230. So do yourself a favor and save $1,600 to $1,350. |

1 edit | There are lots of alternatives now, no need to waste money on expensive gadgets with limitations and MSN TV subscription garbage.
The VN1 system can use Sprints EV-DO, which includes their higher speed Revision A technology when it becomes available in your area. Sprint actually built a decent EV-DO network, and therefore they do not place unrealistic caps on your access, and rather than discourage routing their service, they actually support it. |

Wrongo -- if you SHARE the connection yes, but if it is for an individual and you meet all the other requirements than no problem.
I have a client that needs EVDO on the road to connect to the office. The problem has been the connection from laptop card to external antenna is too easy to break as they work through the day (mobile vet) and move the laptop around. So --- one 3G router that is "permanently" mounted to the van and the external antenna, and the laptop is now wireless in the van. Easy of movement, fixed cables stay fixed and TOS compliance maintained. |

| It's not really that hard to do. Cellular repeaters are used by several businesses and much cheaper than nearly 2k for those that aren't willing to do it how you did but either way I think this gadget only appeals to those that like to spend money w/o research.
This would be a fine device had they priced it decently and not restricted the service to Verizon only. |

Then to add to the bad idea....Verizon as your only choice when everyone knows Sprint is a much better choice for using lots of data?? Really. They keep boasting all these services as 'mobile broadband' and then they limit it to basic phone-based web and email. They need to get their shit straight here. I wouldn't mind at all if they bumped the price up and allowed you to use the service for whatever you wanted, tethered or otherwise. Hell, I'd even so much as to venture a cap would be bearable. But /DONT/ limit me to just using the limited applications on my cellphone when you boast this as 'mobile broadband' and the phone doesnt even use nearly half the bandwidth available.
Right now I have boost mobile service which runs on Nextel's iDEN network and also subscribe to the unlimited web package for $.35/day. This also works well with tethering despite its relatively slow speed (19.2k down theorhetical with nearly full 1s ping times.). I /REGULARLY/ tether with this connection and many other boost customers will tell you they have done the same and neither boost or nextel really care. Verizon, Sprint, and the like need to take a cue here.

we've sold and supported thousands of EVDO Routers... the Kyocera KR1, the LinkSys 3G, and higher end models from Top Global... with and without cards and service from Sprint and Verizon.
