3 edits | Wimax will be true competitor; WiFi not so much
Mobile Wimax has the opportunity to be a real competitor to the incumbents 3G systems, but WiFi, even with citywide rollouts, just isn't likely to ever be that competitor. And Sprint Nextel and Clearwire have a nice window of opportunity over the next 2 yrs to steal a march on AT&T and Verizon. -- -- My BLOG My Web Page

WiMAX and EV-DO would make more sense or even WiMAX and CDMA. I just bought myself a SCP-8400 by Sanyo and recently switched over to Sprint. My phone shall arrive next week.
The reason of doing so is that it's an EV-DO phone not Rev A, but still EV-DO and to someone who has been using the iDEN packet data service this is a god send. The phone operates as a modem through it's built in Bluetooth as well.
If and when Clearwire does arrive to my home here in Miami and they upgrade there speeds to at least 3.0Mbps I would defenitely consider moving over. As I plan to eliminate my POTS line. If it where from Sprint even better as I won't need two companies providing me service and I can get it from just one.
