McAfee is making a big deal over nothing. I have McAfee Virus software and have yet to see anything happen to my computer and until then it's a big deal on McAffee's part to say stuff that people like me don't care about. |

McAfee made there software to protect you from all that kind of stuff. So why should McAfee being making these statements if there software is protecting people's computer's from all this bad stuff? |

| Why just McAfee?
From what McAfee is saying is that there better than Norton AntiVirus witch in reality both Norton and McAfee are both as good. I don't have Norton on my computer mainly because my ISP Comcast offers McAfee with the high speed service. Works pretty good for me. |

Why doesn't these companies spend money on educating the end user about the security risks of Windows and help them harden their Windows. Sometimes prevention is the best key.

| Why Pay for Any AV At All?
I've been using Grisoft since 1999 and notwithstanding update debacles on the free version, it has yet to let me down. Consumers are basically paying the likes of Mac & Norton for the marketing of FUD year after year. Meanwhile, the apps themselves are nothing but bloatware, particularly Norton. |

And this is why I just happily stay with Avast! Antivirus ... No complaints here from them, i just noticed the occasional update, but what i don't notice slowdowns from the program. It just does its job...

I've gotten a popup window saying that AVG Free won't be free anymore after January 2007 and that I must upgrade to the AVG Anti Virus Profession Edition ($38.95 for 2 year subscription). I've gotten this popup when stuff is loading in the system tray during startup.
Can anyone else here confirm that AVG won't be free anymore after January? Are there any better alternatives for the money? |

GRISOFT is announcing a new version of the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. This new 7.5 version with improved performance and full compatibility with the latest Windows Vista version is available. Users that are using AVG Free 7.1 will be provided with a specific dialog, within the next few weeks, with the opportunity to choose the right option fulfilling their needs. AVG Free 7.1 version will be discontinued on 15th of Jan 2007. (avg free 7.1 will be discontinued. avg free 7.5 will work fine.) |
