Not for me!

I'm sure this will be only in areas with other high speed competition, which will never be where I live, since this isn't a Verizon area.

Upload?

What good is 10 Mbps download if you still only have 384 Kbps upload? Every Time Warner upgrade has come and gone without a single increase in upload bandwidth. I can't play on Xbox Live and use my VOIP phone at the same time!

Re: Upload?

That's why they have Digital Phone. It doesn't touch the Internet.

Not sure how it can not touch the Internet considering that it's VOIP.

enough of this 20/5

Yeah, upgrade... that's the ticket.. spur on Verizon speed upgrades: 20/5 for entry level 50/10 mid-grade and 100/100 premium (of course 100/100 with a 1 year commitment would get you an instant upgrade to gpon terminal)

Re: Upload?

Because its not VoIP. It runs over the TWC private network on its own channel on the cable system. When the call is set to hit the actual telephone network then it is switched over. One of their major partners is Sprint-Nextel Sprint has press releases on their site (www.sprint.com) when anything regarding TWC's Digital phone changes or when they extend the cities they cover.

their Digital Phone is like Biz Class broadband. All packets are tagged from the modem or router before they go on the cable system to get QoS over residential customers. They will tell you that as well.

It runs on a different channel then road runner does. If road runner goes down your phone still works with digital phone.

Right. Unless the outage affects both services which then its beyond a major outage.

No service. And within a couple hours TWC will have the network back up. I have only had 2 outages with Digital phone. One was the network techs were doing a system update and the network failed, but so did basic cable channels some how. The other was during a cable modem patch but a simple call into Digital Phone Support they rebooted the modem set a new config file to it and was up and working again.

The only two outages from their network. Unless you count the one that was a power outage during a thunderstorm that even knocked out landline service for a couple days. Digital phone customers in my neighborhood were the only ones with phone--unless you have cell service of course.

Sigh........

I would've given anything had they just fixed the problems their existing customers had, and get them up and running, instead of worrying about increasing speed all the time. I had a great connection with Comcast until TWC took over, then it all went downhill after that. Couldn't get anyone to fix or address my problem, so I had to go with someone else for internet service. I'm on a slower connection now, but thank god it works for a change. Oh well, thats life I guess.......

Re: Upload?

I would like to see a confirmation that digital phone runs on a different channel. My digital phone connection breaks up a lot and has a lag when talking when I have my RR upload at max. I also have never experienced just an outage in either RR or my digital phone connection. It is always both.

Can someone say exactly what parts of Texas already have 10 mbps?

Re: upload speed

Agreed. I don't think download is a huge issue because an average user will probably not notice the difference between 5 and 10 down. However, their upload speeds are horrible. I am "supposedly" suppose to be upgraded to 10 down and they have never told me what my upload speed should be (don't really care since fios is coming in tomorrow). Here is what I usually get.

Clearly, I am not getting 10 down. Until TW upgrades their system, they can expect to take a huge hit from FiOS.
