Uh..

Great if you don't download anything? I can't see much of a purpose behind it with strict caps like that. If you stream media or download large files, you're screwed.

What should it cost for 50 Mbps speed?

Said by Surewest's news release: The 50 Mbps product is valued at $259.95 per month.

I just wonder if they really would get someone to pay $415.18 a month for the bundled service?

HAH

Who the hell is running Surewest, who ever it is needs to be fired, running a business where u offer 50Mbps and capping it to 40GB a month will cause them to have to close thier doors, cause frankly who the hell will get it?

 thats a spicy meatball

Assuming you can maximize all that pretty bandwidth for your 415$ a month.

rough math...

50Mbps = 6.25 MBps
40000 MB (40GB) / 6.25 = 6400 s
6400s / 60 = 106.67 m
106.67m / 60 = 1.78 h

So for your monthly fee you can use your service at full speed for almost 2 hours. What a deal.

Uhm...

Y'all are missing something... that includes(per month) - A cell phone, TV, VoIP, and a 50/50 pipe for $415.18(per month).

It's not just the services, but the upkeep on all the HW as well.

It's a fiber pipe with 50/50 for your computer + digital TV’s highest-end package, Full Color Multiplex, which features over 250 channels and includes every premium channel(plus the STBs) + VoIP(plus VoIP HW).
Add into that the cost(and upkeep(like maybe replacements ever needed)) of a cell.

Who else is throwing 50/50 fiber?
For ANY price? Uh huh...

Surewest's 20/20 would do me fine! Hell! The 10/10 would be acceptable!!!

Caps? *FOR ME*, 40G wouldn't be a problem - seeing as I rarely go over 30G now.
So far, the 40G cap is speculation.

Yeah, this looks terrible, huh?

In all honesty its not that bad of a price. I currently pay $130 for my cell phone, $170 for my cable TV plus internet, $20 for my VoIP line, and another $50 for my landline. So my total starts at about $370 per month, and goes up depending on usage and PPV. So $415 is really no big deal, and you are getting so much more on the internet side. As for the caps, I never go anywhere near 40GB (not even 10GB!) so that seems more than fair to me.

I would JUMP at the chance to buy the $168 plan that includes TV, unlimited phone, unlimited cell phone, and 10m symmetrical service. Hell, I even think the $415 plan is worth it, so the $168 plan is a dream come true!

Re: Uhm...

From my perspective that’s over $100 per service (not counting taxes, fees, etc…): much higher than the normal non-bundled rates from other providers.

I can get a fully loaded digital cable or satellite pack with every premium & DVR for slightly less than $100/mo. Phone service with unlimited long distance will cost anywhere from $30-60. Add another $60/mo for a cell phone and that leaves me with about $220/mo for their internet, awfully close to their unbundled valued price. Don’t see much of a savings there.

Yeah, 50x50 is impressive… and excessive for the vast majority of the market. The only reason somebody would justify this services is if they’re doing a lot of downloading or had a lot of users in the household. Of course you’ll now slam into that nice 40 Gig cap faster!

what is the point...

of offering these high speeds with the lousiest and smallest caps possible...? this is just sheer stupidity... you don't give someone 3 wishes and then tell them that they can't use them... idiots...
