 IPTV

I thought long as you have the internet you can get IPTV? Why would it be limited on deployment?

Almost done....

Word on the street in D.C. is that the ATT/BellSouth merger deal and approval may be imminent. Don't be surprised if it comes today or tomorrow...

Still nothing in stone, of course, but apparently they're almost there...

Re: IPTV

They have to have equipment that can support the speeds needed for IPTV and crews available to install and maintain the home tuners.

Re: IPTV

The ATT/IPTV is an extremely complex and entirely different set of equipment and servers, and is totally separate from the "simple' delivery of DSL. Yes ATT has plant ready in 11 cities, but the only actual customers are in a controlled environment in San Antonio where the Chief Engineers tinker with it on a daily basis to keep it working.

It's definitely not ready for PRIME TIME. Verizon and Cable Co's have the upper hand on ATT's sophisticated mouse trap called IPTV.

Actually, I'd say the number is 12

markets and not 11.

Yesterdays press release re: the Ct. Rollout cited the Danbury market as being in with the Stamford one.

That isn't correct. Danbury is in Western Ct. while Stamford is in the South Eastern part of the state.

Given that, I'd say that the number is 12 and not 11.

I've also verified a couple addresses in Danbury as being Uverse ready.

Things could be looking up and getting interesting here in Ct. and at the very least, be putting some heat on Comcast.

Re: IPTV

Honestly, for some of us in att land.. what is there to get excited about? Only differences for me is how I would receive my TV.

I already have yahoo dsl, and att basic landline phone (just for emergencies). I have Directv for my viewing pleasures. All told right now they run about $100 together.

Now looking to see if it is available at my address and how much it would cost.

I believe they're calling the whole state 1 market. That holds with how they are identifying the other markets I've seen.

So where is the list with every city/market that has Uverse?

3 for CT, 4 for IN, 1 for TX, 2 for CA, thats 10 places.

Wait, I thought...

They were suppose to have launched in something like 20 markets by the end of the year?

Instead of applauding AT&T for exceding the lowerd target of 11, and looking like they may hit 15 markets by Dec 31,2006. you have to be mister negative "well Danbury is in West CT, while Stamford is in SE CT" SO WHAT! at least they have it up and going in your state.

That's what they've been saying for weeks now... And nothing... Not holding my breathe here. An ATT/Bellsouth merger isn't going to do the Bellsouth customers in our area any good, its only good for shareholders.

Stamford certainly looks South..and Eastern..to me!

Better get those prescription glasses refilled.

And you living in Danbury should CERTAINLY know that Danbury and Stamford are two totally different markets.

Jeesh!

I wasn't being negative about it. Actually, I posted it as a positive, stating that in my view, they had hit the TWELVE market mark, instead of 11.

Good lord, you're so proned to negative uverse comments coming from me that when I post a positive one, you don't even recognize it!

They couldn't make that number so they lowered it. We all knew they would...
