I don't trust At&T they never got it right when I employed them for my long distance and dial up service , I subsequently fired them. I swear to never let them get another dime of my hard earned money . MaSrotaj

Jeeze..where I live it was: 1)Pacific Telephone and Telegraph(known as PacTel) circa day 1 -thru sometime in 1984. Part of the ATT group prior to the government mandate of a so-called Monolopy. 2) SBC 1984-2006 3)ATT 2006-Whenever... Granted the breakup of ATT 20 years ago HAS brought changes to telephony service(VOiP for one), however we're back to ATT and Verizon as the ONLY TWO landline companies in the U.S. What if ATT's inital breakup didn't happen. Would we be better off? I'm not sure.. Comments?

ATT's breakup came as a surprise to the business community as a whole. ATT had fought Sprint, MCI and every other LD start up from the early 70's on with every dirty non competitive trick in the book.
Imagine if the government had sided with ATT back in the late 60's early 70's with the Carterphone decision? Wow we'd still be using black rotary phones, LOL. SBC was always the most ruthless of the Bells when they were part of 'MA BELL'. That hasn't changed. The child ate the parent, thats ruthless.
ATT is going to the matress's just like the Corleone's.
