Does he know what he is doing?

Makes you wonder why we vote people in sometimes

or why we we even vote

Anyway it would be nice is the FCC would follow up and actually see where the money goes..

Why must we tax and nickel and dime everything to death?

Bought and Paid for by big telecom

"Universal Service for Americans Act"

A far right republican, naming money for his captors like it was a far-left social benefit.

The people who vote for this guy should be ashamed.

He doesn't know what the internet is, how it works, or its uses. Just where to deliver the $$

I wouldn't worry too much. The Dems now control the Senate and they no longer care what Stevens wants. And they have their own agenda to pursue and this bill would be way down the list. I am sure, EVENTUALLY, a new internet bill will be introduced that may have a USF component, but it won't be Stevens bill.

I'd like to see the whole USF killed off entirely, but if there is one, then cable and VOIP firms should share the burden.

Bah

Why should we listen to this old fart who hardly knows anything when we really should have someone who grew up around this stuff in his place?

Only benifits special interests such as Alaska and Hawaii. How about real Broadband? USF is nothing except self serving delusion.

It's not the Democrats. NO ONE cares about what Ted wants. Except his sugar daddies.

Ted Stevens AKA Grandpa Simpson sez

Whenever I'm confused, I just check my underwear. It holds the answer to all the important questions.

Senator Simpson from Alaska has been checking his skivvies quite frequently, particularly as it relates to the Internets and all the confusing tubes.

Why is Stevens still roaming freely and still has a job in the U.S. Senate? He should be in a nursing home under 365x24x7 supervision and heavily thorazined.

wow...he has absolutely no idea what he's talking about. just another example of our legislators, who know nothing about technology, trying to create laws for it. maybe they should be focusing on net neutrality...

The article is inaccurate as of noon Jan 4 when the Dems took over the Senate. He is no longer the Chairman. He is the Ranking Minority member.

The new chairman is 82 yr old Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii). But he is as bad as Stevens as he leads the pols that win the PORK award every year in the Congress along with Stevens.

A good ol conservative, eh?

Ted Stevens is the epitome of the Republican Party. Antiquated, bumbling, big-government, stupidity. Please don't let this guy in any way shape policy. He needs to be in a retirement home - not congress (although they are apparently one-in-the-same)

What was he talking about? I'm lost in all of his and and and talk. And what was he talking about. "One of my staff sent me an internet the other day and I just got it today". Not quite sure what he was trying to say. Was he talking about email? If that's the case his problem is spam. Should be against the law for them to try to even think up,write or even talk about something they don't have a clue about.

Ted Stevens being Ted Stevens, somehow and some way, this bill is about bringing huge amounts of money into Alaska and the rest of the country will get either squat or bupkis.

Of course, the rest of the country will have a choice in the matter. We will get to choose either squat or bupkis.

The way he talks reminds me of how some people did some of their reports in highschool... You know they didn't read the assignment and they were totally clueless as to the subject but they had to speak for 5 minutes anyway so they just BS their way through it and hope that the people buy it while all the time they are thinking, shesh... what a dumbass.

The interweb thing is FULL. You know, with all that traffic, it's full now. Ted Stevens couldn't get his internet because all the bad people were using bittorrent.

Oh Nooooses!

Ted Stevens is a dumbass.
