2 edits | Qwest can get money if it has a business plan
If Qwest has a viable upgrade business plan which can demonstrate a return on money invested, they can get the necessary capital. Wall St is awash in money looking to be invested. And Qwest can get what they need. They just have to have a plan and the will to carry it out. So, fiber is still a real possibility - not just the most likely one. -- -- My BLOG My Web Page |

good idea, qwest.. let's just wait and see if customers embrace more bandwidth. maybe by 2010 you can start deploying something that is close to what verizon has now. |

| Stupid if they stick with *dsl
If they spent the capital on FTTH their investment will be well protected. Qwest has more customers that would benefit from fiber vs those barely served by dsl technology. Also a majority of Quest customers exist in areas that suffer climate extremes that fiber is well off in withstanding.
With less maint costs and more customers served they would more quickly recoup that investment. Perhaps in the same time as the cheaper dsl route. -- Ubuntu Tips »www.ubuntutips.org |

I agree.. and since this is a nothing new here story,.. in the sense of the medium you speak of, it's spelled F-I-B-E-R with an ER.. not RE. -- "Wipe out the national deficit over night... Tax the stupid!" - about 50 gMail invites available. PM if you'd like one. |

This dying husk of a company needs to merge wireline with Embarq (or hell Windstream), sell of what few wireless properties they have to Sprint, and let their fiber install go to the highest bidder, like Level3 or something. -- "WHEN THE LAUGH TRACK STARTS THEN THE FUN STARTS!" |

That's not to say that you don't find it acceptable of course. |

we have nothing in my area. And Bell said they have not plans to implement DSL in my area.
And I wasn't asking a question, making a statement.
Spotlight on Quest? What do you need they are broke Att is not now they are just milking people for what they can without putting up the cash like verizon is at least verizon is ahead of its time.
Sorry you don't have the glory with a company like Quest. Hope you get what you want though. |

Qwest, I have your answer. Fiber all the way.
You can't sit still in this business.
They've been pretty aggressive about deploying DSL to rural areas so I'm happy for that. But I want more! |
