Universal BB my ass. Pipe dream by some tube heads. And even if they aren't tube-heads, they are certainly LIARS 'cause this has yet to be a solid concept in the minds of our "Representatives". |

Its the telcos to blame, see the northeast where Verizon just sold the Maine, New Hampshire, & Vermont Lines. There are places where independents can do it better, then traditional carriers. |

| Read my Post No More Entitlments
First universal healthhellcare now universal broadband. When will this madness stop? If one wants broadband go to private business.
PS DSL Reports, there nothing innovative about government supplied tax paid entitlements. Entitlements have a nasty effect to impeding innovation. |

Yeah, if they put all the money they've spent in Iraq into building out broadband everyone would have gigabit FTTH by now. |

Or for profit, I am an EBay seller. Lat year Vernonia, had their annual community garage sale, the sale was a wash but I did some advance real-estate recon. Unfortunately Metro is doing their best to drive out the middle class with their urban growth planning. One thing I did was to strike up a conversation with the seller and as k what kind of cable and broadband was available. Most say they can get DSL (758K). One cul-de-sac all the home have a line to site to a guy who set up a network in his home and sells faster broadband wireless connection to his neighbors. |

| So let me ghet this straight
It took a century to get everyone a telephone. Louisiana just wired up it's two final cities. To get electricity it took over half a century. But to get broadband everywhere we have to get it to every spot for only a few bucks a month in less than a decade.
You can get it fast... you can get it perfect... you can get it cheap. Just don't be surprised you can't get all three. |

(I find it much more significant that he never once mentioned New Orleans or Katrina. How can the state of our union be "strong" when we lost an ENTIRE CITY?) |
