Per channel

The per-channel data rate is the same as DOCSIS 2.0. The new thing is channel bonding, which allows multiple channels to act like one fat one.

Who cares, I don't do over 100GB in a month but I'd like to have a connection 10 times as fast.

It's 10.5MB/sec max and no you won't, not if you download the same amount of data.

el oh el

quote:
DOCSIS 3.0, once certified, will offer downstream data rates of 160 Mbps or higher and upstream data rates of 120 Mbps or higher (per channel). It will also incorporate Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) and offer a plethora of other performance and functionality upgrades.
Right now, cable can do a nice high upload.. but do we see more than 768 kbps? No. Do we see 768 kbps upstreams with cale ISPs without stupid "we can send out letters threatening discontinued service if you keep using it" - no.

Verizon needs to expand FIOS to the rest of the world. Imagine a world with no transfer caps, low pings, cheap 31/9.5, no enforcement of their TOS, that uses DMCA notices as toilet paper. That's a beautiful world.
