| Lets get rid of all viacom content!
I think it is time that all viacom content is removed from the net. In fact it should be taken further and all broadcast of viacom content should be prohibited. No minor under the age or 21 should be allowed to view, hear, own or come into contact with any viacom content. Viacom should only distribute content at viacom owned stores in the remote areas of the state of Montana. This should end the problem with piracy/unfair compensation of viacom and their artists once and for all. -- Registered Bandwidth Offender #40812 |

Of course its about $$$. Google is making money from Viacom's content. Viacom wants compensation OR have the videos pulled. I think thats fair. |

Why does it seem that nearly every other company is against Google these days? I know that in a competitive market there are no such things as real friends, it just seems as though Google seems now to be the thorn in every big company's side (even moreso than Microsoft) lately. I'll bet that Viacom probably did not make a big issue about their videos being on YouTube too much until Google bought YouTube. Even though Google's "do no evil" approach to business is starting to falter a bit, it must be something about that company that has got AT&T, Verizon, Microsoft, (Balmer threating to f***king kill them) and others scared. |

| Amusing...
I find this all amusing, actually. 2 big corporations at odds... not what we're used to with previous David/Goliath scenarios.
Anyway, the paidcontent articles has this line:
Viacom wants a deal similar to those already reached by music labels and CBS Is this the deal from last October? »www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2006-···ls_x.htm If so, the problem might be that back then YouTube was pre-Google and more amenable to making deals. Or it could be that Viacom wants a similar but somehow better deal that wouldn't have worked then, either. I dunno.
Anyway, the current request to pull the videos is probably intended as leverage only... part of the bargaining process. -- My Site |

What about the numerous videos that Viacom themself are posting? CBS News regularly uses YouTube to post their clips online, for example. |

Remove the files YouTube and implement a piracy voting system based on the users if it's copyrighted or not. Once reaching enough votes it automatically removes the content. |
