Will this mean expanded coverage for Clear Wire?

Just wondering if this will mean better coverage or faster speeds for Clearwire?

Looks to be just more licensed areas they can provide service in. They already have licenses to that spectrum where they are serving customers now. So this will not directly improve service/speed but will allow them to grow their footprint.

However it may boost their stock price for their impending IPO.

What is wrong with you? These posts just keep getting more and more vacuous.

You can pretty much bet Ed won't see any of that 300 million.

That's a given.

Even if he were fired, his golden parachute would certainly leave him rolling in money.

I Wonder...

...how much spectrum Craig McCaw controls now?

That long-term leasing thing is really working out for them. It keeps them under the regulators radar...

Clearwire didn't spend that money just to sit on the spectrum forever. I expect they will use it to roll out their services to more areas.

Best Thing to Come Out of Merger

...something that actually fosters competition. With Sprint seemingly going ahead, WiMax might actually show up in 2008

This is funny because if I remember correctly Sprint-Nextel plans to roam off current Clearwire network's and provide there own coverage as well.

I smell something fishy, possible merger of Sprint-Nextel & Clearwire???

Or perhaps even near the end of this year! (Or so goes the possibility according some articles I have read).

I hope that Sprint does not blow it and goes with their $55 a month for multiple devices. If they roll it out correctly, then they could have a winning product on-hand. They current have inexpensive wireless data as far as it goes in the cellular sector.

isn't there a point where the golden parachute is so heavy that it falls to the ground killing the occupant instantly?

Sprint/Nextel will test WiMax in DC and Chicago later this year but that means little to average customer.

Good for Clearwire

As a satisfied Clearwire customer in Idaho - I am happy to see the company expanding and getting more spectrum. AT&T's recent merger ended up benefiting Clearwire quite a bit it seems. WiMax is going to work (and work well I predict) at delivering wireless broadband to many parts of this country.

You will pay more.

This is B.S. If you have ten providers with ten sets of equipment, workers and the most expensive CEO's how are you going to get it cheaper?

Is anything cheep and universe?
