Yet another reminder....

that laws are written by corporation lawyers,
merely implemented by legislators.

very well put, Noah. I tend to thik in the same exact way; who's the poliTrickian going to listen to, those lobbying and throwing massive amounts of dough at the problem or those looking out for the well being of the community?

One problem with this guy

In Isenberg's article, towards the end he states this:

"McCormick's absurd assertions and PFF Scott Wallsten's equally blatant claims, for example, that dial-up Internet customers liked dial-up better than broadband..."

I read an article on MSN a week or two ago, concerning debt troubles. One specific piece of advice was to substitute high speed internet with a $9.99 dial-up plan. So there are those out there (I'm sure he considers them the 'unwashed masses') who DO prefer dial-up over hsi. Now if you could get 1.5 meg for $9.99 with a free modem, their advice may be different. But you can't, so it's not. And Isenberg needs to get off his high horse.

Yeah, this sucks! Until lobbying is stopped, consumers and businesses alike are going to continue to get hosed by the telcos.

That's not "preferring" dial-up over HSI, that's not being able to afford HSI.

Just because someone buys a Geo Metro rather than a Lexus, doesn't mean that they prefer the Metro.

Doesn't mean they don't, either. I think you are missing the point. Maybe I need to clarify. Substitute the word 'prefer' with 'choose'.

I'd take 64kbps w/ a free modem for $9.99/mo!

Oh wait... that would be ISDN. Guess they'd have to change me $99.99/mo for that plus another $10/mo for an ISDN ISP.

What have "consumer advocates" done for America?

Maybe the real question should be what has consumer advocates really done for America? Most of these "advocates" are nothing more than left wing communist pinkos in disguise trying to destroy American corporations in the hope that the government can take them over so that they can impose a communist society on us. The most famous "consumer advocate" is Ralph Nader, who is the biggest commie in American history. He is the reason products are so expensive and why companies have to ship everything overseas so that the product doesn't get so damn expensive. Maybe they should rename these "consumer advocates" to their real name like "communist advocates!" The only good communist is a dead one!

My goodness, i guess your head is really deep inside Neal Boortz and Sean Hannity's arse huh...

Well for one thing, if it wasn't for "consumer advocates" we sure as hell wouldn't have the Pure Food and Drug Act. Remember that one? where we require food manufacturers to LABEL what is actually in the food? and what the hell do you have against Ralph Nader? You can thank him next time you look for crash safety ratings for your next car...You know why Sean Hannity and all other news outlets hate Ralph Nader? because Nader believes that all these outlets sell stories filled with sensationalism...And I think he is right on the money. And if you can't do the math, then you shouldn't open your mouth.

Why are you such a corporate shill?

I guess your head is sucking down on Karl Marx's d*** (like most communist liberals, they are girlymen!)

Sounds like another communist with his talking points. Communist liberals are nothing more than useful idiots to communism. They are like mindless little lemmings, and this poster totally shows that trait. The fact is Ralph Nader has done nothing positive for America. He has made everything more expensive in America, while causing companies to outsource their jobs because they cannot stay in business in America with numerous regulations. The whole goal of "consumer advocates" is to regulate every business to the point where they can no longer operate and the government is forced to take over, creating a communist society. It is typical that communists like yourself believe in that. These people will do and say anything to force their evil, inferior ideology on people. They even believe in Islamic Terrorism and support commies like Kim Jung Il. Communist liberals were responsible for allowing 9/11 to happen. Despite all these laws to promote "safety" on products, some products are still dangerous to use while making it much harder for new products to come out in America.

So why are you such a communist pinko and terrorist supporter?
