The FAQ didn't cover the question...

...what if I'm Canadian (or any other nationality) and your laws don't apply to me?

Re: The FAQ didn't cover the question...

Don't worry, if CRIA has their way then you to will know the fun of one-click buy-offs.

On a side note, is this really a good idea? I mean do they really want to put a service that is just going to be a target for every RIAA hater with a large botnet at their command ?

Unions

For those who dont blame the artists, the riaa is the legal arm of their union. It would be like the artists hiring goons to break your legs for piracy. remember that when you only blame the lawyers....

I say throw all the bums in jail

Forget this slap on the wrist crap and prosecute each and every Pirate. Fine them $10K per copy and throw their azzes in jail for a minimum of one year.

WEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAK.

Taylor. While you might have made points for hitting the scoring key words and phrases (except that "azzes" comment, which makes me question if you really are Taylor) you forgot what I said on the previous post. Mix it up. You're getting boring.

Thousand Dollar Quickie

There is only one way to fight nasty litigious attorneys. You need nastier litigious attorneys. This organization's days are numbered. The thousand dollar quickie crosses the line between indecency and obscenity.

This is very wrong.

It has to be illegal to set up such a deal where a settlement is cheaper than even the cheapest legal defense. It proves the RIAA has no intention of this ever hitting court.

Need DOS program

Someone needs to make a DOS program that everyone can run, just like when someone made the Colbert program that automatically voted for him.
If everyone runs the program their site will be fucked.

What an idea...

I'm going to set up a website so that the **AA's can settle with ME quickly after they sue me and run up MY legal bills, which they will have to pay when their suits are thrown out of the courts. What a great idea!

Lifetime supply

I wonder if I could go there and pay them $1000 without having been requested to, then live a worry-free life downloading all the free MP3's I desire. $1000 doesn't seem to bad for a lifetime of free music.

Ya'll have it wrong

This is not the legal system at work, it's the lack of legal system. The RIAA is trying to circumvent the legal system with this. You don't do the quickie settlement, then boom you are in the legal system. I have been dealing with the RIAA and these lawsuits since day one with my former job. They know they have weak cases that are being proven in court, they also know $1000 bucks to make this go away quick and cheaper then a lawyer will cost them will be appealing to many people. I just feel bad for the parents who will go ahead and pay the money, then Jr. gets caught pirating again. What a waste.

So........ My question is.........

When exactly did the RIAA become a government entity which has the power to police others actions, find the accused guilty and decide what punishment is fitting for the "crime"?
We all know this power and money hungry beast is just dreaming about all those kids, old ladies, and single parents they can sue.
I'm surprised no one has challenged the RIAA's authority of
settling a "criminal" case monetarily and/or their authority over these cases.
When exactly did the RIAA get free reign over our privacy?

Riaa pre-settlement

Actually, it is a "cool" 3,000.00

I have experience with this one.
