Comments on news posted 2007-03-23 14:16:12: On the heels of their patent court loss against Verizon, a federal judge today granted a permanent injunction against Vonage. He added, though, that he would hold off on signing the order for two weeks while Vonage organizes their appeal. ..

| B.S. "Vonage officials have spent $425 million advertising their product 'so they can lock up this emerging market and we can't get a toehold in it,' Webb said."
If Verizon had spent half of the money on advertising their own VOIP service that they spent on attorney's fees fighting this case, they might have built a clientel. -- "Remember, Comrade, people who are willing to destroy an efficient telephone system may not be playing with a full deck."

| if verizon is loosing customers over phone service....... If you look at what Hilton said..... If a deal is struck to pay for the use of the patents.... Hilton is saying that it is not fair that verizon is loosing its customers. So in that sense he is anti competitive (wonder how much verizon stock the judge owns). And based on the statement that verizon is loosing its customers to the compitention. Shouldn't the cable tv companies be allowed to sue verizon to shut down their fios tv service as it will cause the cable companies to loose their customers and income base....

Plasticman What patented technology is Verizon stealing from the CATV companies? Coax and fiber to the premise are totally different systems. Why do you people love the leaches? They contribute nothing and hamper growth.

| Why i use VOIP I've been a satisfied Vonage customer for 3 years because of two features--simutaneous ring and portability.
Nobody has my cellphone number except family plan members. With simultaneous ring the Vonage and cell phones always ring simultaneously. I never have to use cell phone minutes at home.
I spend significant amounts of time in locations away from home. The Vonage adapter works with any broadband connection so it often travels with me, which reduces cellphone minutes even more.
I'm not going back to fixed location phone service regardless of what happens to Vonage.

| Idiots.... Who came up with this notion that VOIP providers are "stealing" from ILECs?
Do you people think they sneak a pair of wires in the back door of your local central office, and that's how they connect to POTS users? No, strangely enough, Vonage et al are actually PAYING for their calls to be terminated. Amazingly, they also are PAYING for the bandwidth they need to handle inbound VOIP traffic too!
(I'm sure it's only a matter of time until rachel alice comes along with another link to a meaningless explanation of how something works... oh goodie.)
