| 10 more dollars what a joke, you call for substandard service 300k of a 1500k connect nothing but lag and packet loss.line quality test says its my fourth hop a verizon core routerpool chi giving 20-48 percent pl.hmmm i can figure this out why not them. if they contracted it out to some one they need to tell them to fix there crap because they paid for the service just like i pay for there internet service, hence i need to call verizon and tell them there connect is crap and they need to fix it,no 10 dollars more for someone to try to pass it of on my machine lol. fix your crap and you wouldnt be in this position | |

| Verizon is offensive.... Yikes, what an offensive idea! I've called support at Verizon and generally it seems non-existent (unless it's customer service attempting to con you into believing that you owe Verizon more money than you really do)! They might as well just offer you the choice of talking to a MACHINE when you call, or talking to someone who "MIGHT" know what they are doing for an extra $10 fee. I can't wait to start hearing the horror tales about Verizon reps making up stories of how you supposedly agreed to an extra $10 fee for support when it never happened.
I'm thinking of doing a youtube piece demonstrating what a bunch of liars and rip off artists Verizon have become. I never thought any firm could make time warner look good, but these bums have succeeded. I've seen these folks lie so many times that I can't even call them anymore without feeling a requirement to tape the conversation myself. -- The best things in life are free...(after rebate and free shipping!)

1 edit | I had Verizon DSL for four years. I never had to call tech support, except for the time when I wanted to upgrade for free to the 3000/768 service. At the time, for $25 more than VZ's 3000/768 service, the only other DSL in my area was 608/128, for $50/month, with a one year contract, or 4000/384 with high latency and random downtime through timewarner.
If I were to pay their stupid fee, I'd still be ridiculously ahead of other companies in the area.
Why bother paying for the extra tech support? If your experience is like mine, you won't need them. If it isn't and you need something calling them won't fix anything. ISP basic tech support never does, the people who have half a brain who help fix outages and overloaded routers and whatnot do, and you're not within miles of getting through to them through the ISP tech support. When you call ISP tech support, you get gems like "reboot your modem" and "restart your PC" and "replace the cat5 cable" - not anything meaningful. -- The Problem With Music.

4 edits | RTFA This service is for people who need the help and it goes a bit beyond broadband connectivity issues.
FTFA,
"Computer users want to turn to their Internet service provider for help with their computer-related issues when those issues are too complicated for either the users or their tech-savvy acquaintances to resolve. We're answering that call for our Verizon High Speed Internet customers," Nelson said.
Among the computer components and peripherals supported by Verizon Premium Technical Support are routers, network cards, video cards, sound cards, CD/DVD reader-writer, hard drives, flash memory systems, printers, scanners, gaming consoles and firewalls. Operating systems and software supported by the service are Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows 98 and Windows Me.
It also isn't limited to DSL, you just need to be a Verizon customer. The tag on this up above is very misleading.
There are people out there who can use this kind of help, Verizon is just offering it to them. The ppl here on this board are the ppl that grandmas etc call on to help them. Not everyone is that capable or has us to help them.

| Re: RTFA I think most people that have a problem with this service is that they can't even support their own services and hardware, and now we are expected to believe that they will have a clue in how to deal with all of the other hardware and software out there? Give me a break! Figure out how to support your own product before trying to support everyone else's! If this was a company that already had great support and was now branching out into something new, I'd be all for it. As I see it now, the Verizon forums are going to get a whole lot busier as people start to receive even worse support (if that is even possible) than they already do. | |

| Verizon Premium Tech support I am one of the Premium Technical support agent and I can see why some people are discouraged about the support that they may receive. I would like to assure you that the Premium support is just what it implies..a much more direct approach to solving the customers problems for a small fee. I have personally helped customers solve issues that would have cost them hundreds of dollars to repair and they only had to pay the 9.99 for a month. The support removes most of the boundaries and time limits that a standard support agent has. They are also more like the cream of the crop when it comes to education level and verizon has strict guidelines, testing, and training for their premium agents. There is a direct number to the support team so the customer no longer has to ride the number pushing carousel in order to talk to an agent. The agent has the responsibility to solve the customers issue and will not pass the buck so to speak so the customer need not worry about hearing.."sorry we don't support that". If the agent that the customer is talking to does not know the answer they have the ability to use all resources including the Internet, books, OEM manufactures or other support agents to assist them in finding the answer. This goes way beyond the standard support agents boundaries. The is the maiden voyage of a this type of service and I think that one should try it and see for themselves the quality of the service before one condemns it. | |

| Not that bad
@mcciglobal.com
| Its really not that bad Ok, here it is. Verizon's tech support IS free for dsl issues and there products. But the $9.99 a month service provides service for almost anything that is wrong with your computer. Local techs charge around $50-$100 to fix your issue (like networking) where you have someone on the phone with you for only $9.99.... and you can call anytime and for almost any issue. I don't think this would fail. | |

| Re: Its really not that bad Like I said on the front page.. I think there is an option to purchease this as a one time use (It covers about 2 days, to get your issue resolved.) .. for $64 bucks. Otherwise there is a $31 dollar ETF associated with the 9.99 a month. -- "Independent thinkers tend to ALWAYS have someone not agreeing with them. It's The non-thinkers that ALWAYS come in legions." | Its Premium I think its based in the US. How many times have you told some tech support agents can i get a direct extension number for you? And the answer is no. What it looks like is Verizon is in the process of filtering out those kind of techs that the customer wants to talk to and offer premium and usaully they are the one wiling to out of thier reach to help out with anything and everyting. | |

| Why should Verizon provide unlimited support for free? from someone on the inside...
A sampling of some Calls to PTS...
Needed help embeding a media file in powerpoint.
cant get printer to work (Off internet)
port forwarding- Multiple reasons..Azerus, Warcraft.. etc.
All computers can hook up but Nintendo Wii will not.
My computer keeps freezing before even getting to windows.
Ok.. now why... should ANY of the above be FREE support provided by your ISP? Is there any answer you can give to the above other than general grumpyness at having to pay for things? Powerpoint- call Microsoft, Printer, call your manufacturer, Port Forwarding- call the people that make that program and YOUR router company, Wii? Call Nintendo, Freezing Computer? OEM.
And pray to GOD that your warranty is there with all of them or your gonna pay THERE too.
A monthly bill does not entitle you to unlimited support for every single thing your computer touches. And it shouldnt. They provide internet service. Its like saying "I pay for GAS each month... Texaco should fix the radio on my car!"
