It will never be availble for homes if that's the case. People already have cheaper/unlimited access options - Cable, DSL, FiOS, etc. |

1 edit | One gets the feeling...
That someone in a position to make policy at VZ has some substantive control issues. They do seem to spend an inordinate amount of time and resources, telling customers all the things they cannot do.
One could reasonably expect that VZ will soon deploy armies of retired stern schoolmarms and nuns, armed with rulers, who will travel about and whack the peepees of offending customers.
Which, being VZ, they will figure out some way to turn said whackage of said offending vienna sausages into a revenue stream. |

Verzion you gave us Fios. Why not FIOS speed over the cell phone network with unlimited bandwidth? You could wipe the telco companies out. |

some, like me, don't have any other "real" option (dial-up is NOT an option in my book)
DSL = too far
cable = monopoly that won't service my part of the road (it's 1/2 mile away on one end, 1/4 mile away on the other).
FIOS = yeah...maybe in 2020
satellite = had it. useless for anything important like VPN/citrix. FAP makes other aspects almost useless |

Sprint already offers an EVDO router for consumers for under $200, no limits. Many on evdoforums.com have been using the KR1 EVDO router for over a year. Sprint allowed it, Verizon didn't, but VZW users use it anyway but have a better chance of hitting the 5GB/month limit.
Now VZW only allows it with a special expensive plan, not allowed with core EVDO cards.
Sprint is pretty open about it, behaving like a real ISP. VZW is all about closed options, slower performance, 5GB/month limit and a draconian TOS. |

You may have overlooked your best option...share your neighbor's internet service wirelessly.
You should be able to negoiate with one of your neighbor/friend that has broadband. Put a wireless access point in his and your location. Done Deal! |

I just installed a Sprint Router and EV-DO card for a small business that was on dial-up. Too far away for DSL and Charter wanted $4000.00 to run cable to their building, needless to say, they told Charter to F off. Sprint is their only viable option. And it was a very easy install to boot. -- "The stars are matter, We're matter, But it doesn't matter." |

There is barley enough capacity to get a cable modem running off a tower (all users put together). FIOS speeds, forget about it unless the FCC cancels all the radio channels of the DoD. |
