I gave up on filing turbo tax internet filing. I have an automatic extension given by IRS for the University I work for. So I will wait another couple of months before filing. |

Isn't that why there are extensions? |

doubtful, this is from AP. "SAN JOSE, Calif. - Taxpayers who couldn't electronically file 11th-hour returns using Intuit Inc.'s TurboTax, ProSeries and other software won't be penalized for delays caused by the company's overtaxed servers, the IRS said Wednesday....."

Extensions don't extend the amount of time you have to pay. If you use an extension for that reason then you are going to pay some extra fines. |

| reply to Stewy85 said by Stewy85 :Why do people wait this long??? You had 4 months to get it done. Simple: if you've overpaid (i.e., you're due a refund), you file as soon as you get all the requisite forms; if you've underpaid, you do the filling out of your taxes at any point between 01/30 and tax day, then file your forms on tax day. After all, why would you want to pay even one microsecond sooner than you had to? -- Everyday, thousands of new cars are delivered to their new owners with poorly-selected radio station presets. |

Thanks for echoing this country's sad default leap to litigation.
How is your lack of meeting the IRS' deadline in any way whatsoever Intuit's fault? |

After all, why would you want to pay even one microsecond sooner than you had to? The two things don't go together when filing your tax return. You can file your return anytime, either on paper or electronically, and then pay at the last minute.
The easiest way is to file electronically EARLY, but set an automatic transfer of the money from your account to the IRS for the last or next to last day. All electronic filing programs allow this.
You can also file your return early on paper, and then mail the separate voucher with your check at the last minute. -- -- My BLOG My Web Page |

in this case though it would be Intuit's fault, people can file last minute, but in this situation Intuit's servers are delaying it further then it should for processing. |

2 edits | So if you decide to mail it, but your car breaks down on your way to the post office, you're going to sue the car manufacturer?
Just like for filing with Intuit, YOU COULD HAVE DONE IT YESTERDAY
Plan ahead people, and take your $*%@! responsabilities ffs!!!
EDIT: msg directed at everyone suffering from lawsuit-itis not just Brian above.

Considering they got me audited 2 out of 2 years, Turbo Tax sucks.
I do it and just mail it. Why should I make those money-grubbers jobs easy?
Turbo Tax wouldn't pay since they blamed me for their software glitches. If I have to add up everything and double check their work, what's the point of this stupid software? |

read my post above with the link stating IRS is allowing extra time for people being affected by this, I also said "doubtful" in response to his lawsuit post. I never once claimed people should sue for this. And yes people should have done it earlier, hell 2 days after all my forms came in I had everything filed. |
