The new AT&T Wireless ads are very annoying. My wife turns the channel or mutes the sound when they come on. |

to put all your eggs in one non paying basket. If the youth of today can't pay their cell bill as teens, what should we expect as they get older? |

I suggest you watch the film Idiocracy by Mike Judge. It paints a pretty accurate picture of where we as a nation are headed. |

| No payment?
When my girlfriend went to go get a cell phone, Verizon did a credit check - and it turned up NOTHING (she has built herself no credit)....they wouldn't give her an account without something crazy like a $500 deposit.
We drove to another Verizon store, and they told her the same exact thing. I was kind of shocked. Reluctantly, right after she was "denied", I told them I wanted an account and to run my name. Not 30 seconds later, they asked me what plan and what phone.
Verizon obviously checks to see if you have any credit, OR wants some $$ in case they have to cut your non paying ass off.
What was the deal with Amp'd? Did they just...bargain...?
Amp'd: "You don't have any credit?" Punk Kid: "Well...they gave me a credit card....but now they send me letters that I owe them $350" Amp'd: "Oh...I see...." Punk Kid: "But look at my MySpace! I have 90292314 friends...and I will get them to buy Amp'd service!" Amp'd: "Well...ok...you promise to pay on time? and to get us some subs?" Punk Kid: "Yeah!" |

quote: The company pitched wireless phone service and mobile broadband content to a younger audience
Well duh, "a younger audience". No crap they went under. Young people don't wanna pay for their stuff, they want it free. We play XBOX, sleep, eat, and move back in with our parents once we drop out of college, did they honestly think we were going to pay bills?

I thought they were strictly a prepaid service. I guess not.
They probably could have made it if they had forced their customers with poor credit into a prepaid plan. Once the minutes were used up the phone would stop working until more time was added to the account. That way customers couldn't run up huge charges and then not pay. That's what Tracfone does and it seems to be working for them. -- We don't care. We don't have to. We're the phone company.

said by Camelot One :And to think, I almost switched....... Don't feel bad, I almost did too. I was interested in their content, etc, but the prices were too much. At least they're not alone, because I owe Verizon a few hundred (partly because canceled contract fee). I ain't paying them, and they can stick it on my credit until they are blue in the face. Anyone who charges what they did should of had unlimited text messages. Now I have the Sero plan with Sprint, and have no issues with service, or billing, AND I got the Moto Q, without paying $200+ for it like Verizon. I went from $80 a month on Verizon, with airtime charges for everything, including internet, down to $35 a month, 7pm nights and weekends, 100 more minutes a month than VZ (500 on Sprint, 400 on VZ), and it doesn't matter what time of day it is, I don't have to pay for airtime on my unlimited internet access. This Moto Q is great for browsing on the go. Thanks to it, I can now have no life, in style! No, seriously. I can be bored, waiting at the doctors office, and pop on DSLR, or wikipedia, or just about anywhere. It especially comes in handy for google maps, etc... -- SIPPhone/Gizmo # 17476200648 / PIMPNET Chatline / Ran by Asterisk & Slackware 10.1. |
