There's a a healthy percentage of their customers have cable internet and telephony as a connectivity option. It's now more possible than ever for people to take their business completely away from AT&T if they chose to. They should tread very lightly. They convinced me, I'm switching to Verizon.

I, for one, has got rid off ALL AT&T services, including Land phone and DSL, and Cell phone

| ATT then liable as well ? Wasn't there an issue with ISP's not being held responsible since they didn't "know' what the data was. Won't the fact they would now KNOW allow ATT to be sued for copyright infringement by anyone/everyone since they could then be considered 'Content Providers'? they would not be able to cherry pick just Hollywoods list of goodies... they would be responsible for Everyones copyrighted material.
I could be wrong... -- »www.memphispcguy.com

| | is it going to matter.. Is it going to matter if your a customer, what if at&t's monitoring system is based on thier internet backbone? If your ISP peers with AT&T and they have some system monitoring like thier San Francisco CIA basement operation no one is safe. They'll just pick up the torrent, newgroup, emule etc. traffic, inspect and send your IP and infringement info to the entertainment mafias. And who _doesnt_ peer with AT&T.. amazing. | |

| Re: Competetion said by ShootToThril:as i recall, their lines are leased from ATT so no cigar. Um, DSLX runs on AT&T copper from the DSLAM to the premises, but are you sure they are running on the AT&T data network from the DSLAM to the Internet? From what the DSLX gurus state, the DSLAM is the only point of intersection between DSLX and AT&T. DSLX reportedly has their own network from the DSLAM out. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum | |

| Re: Competetion I can't find the post in the DSLX forum; I am pretty sure that DSLX uses their own Redback, or Juniper aggregation routers. The only question is, how is data moved between the DSLX Redbacks and the DSLAMs in the AT&T CO/RTs?
A couple of years ago there were issues with SBC which caused me to start lobbying my landlady to switch to DSLX. I think it is time to renew that effort. -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum

Filtering filesharing only encourages the development of encrypted means of getting content.
There has yet to be any anti-piracy technology, short of that already mentioned for XBox and other video game consoles (and this applies only to modded consoles being barred from online play), that has withstood any efforts at being defeated. -- "The trouble with computers, of course, is that they are very sophisticated idiots." - Doctor Who (from Robot) We are the Hacker Collective: Resistance Is Futile - All Your AACS Keys Will Be Assimilated.

| | Ha!!! They Made Up This Excuse for Newsgroups as Well Bet the real issue is they want to save bandwidth either because it they don't want to keep upgrading to meet the demand of new & current users OR they want to reserve bandwidth for U-Verse. SBC/AT&T just likes to shift blame on others so they can lower their costs without customers complaining. They realize the general public are a bunch of suckers who will believe anything. | |

AT&T can kiss my ass!
They can say whatever they want in a press release, but the actual retards that think DRM is just a band from the 80's, will never be able to make it work.
Now, keep in mind, we're talking about corporate monkey boys and girls whose only concern is making numbers match up in their countless spreadsheets that they e-mail back and forth in their respective divisions, justifying their jobs. They couldn't care less whether you are happy as a customer or not. As long as their spreadsheets have all the cells filled with numbers that make their existence in the ATT corporate scheme viable, that's all they're concerned about.
It's all corporate speech to make the corporate, govt. world happy.
If they think they can monitor and catch anyone who really knows what they're doing on the Internet, then they could probably go ahead and give the US military the exact location that Bin Laden is taking his terrorist vacation at.
Has it happened? Will it happen? Hmmm....... not!
