I like it.

The less they have to deal with "squeaking wheels", the more time the reps have for other folks with REAL problems.

And yes, the more they kick off the hogs that abuse the system, the more and the better the network will be for the rest of us.

EVERYTHING IN MODERATION. Abuse it, and you lose it.

Kicking off long term, paying customers because THE BILLING DEPARTMENT can't do it's job is plain assinine.

Their attitude is "Shut up and pay whatever we say."

Screw that. You double bill me, you bet I'm calling in. You cancel me because I called in on YOUR error? There's abuse going on here, alright. Abuse of the consumer....

Go out of business already

Sprint is a crappy, bottom feeding wireless company. The idiots in charge over at Sprint have absolutely no vision of the future. The company lacks direction because they have no idea how to implement ideas. I hate Sprint as do most of the people I know! Go out of business you worthless pathetic excuse for a wireless company!!!!!!!!!!!!

blahblah

@spcsdns.net

Re: Go out of business already

^I have Sprint and they are no different than other carriers. Had major problems with Verizon. They kick off users for too much downloading. Have had good luck with Sprint. A $40B company with over 50 millions users isn't going away. If you don't like'm don't use them.

Cell carriers rank lowest of all consumer products. It's just how it is right now.

Yeah they're going somewhere. They are going to be bought out and the Sprint name will go bye bye. Just wait and see.

Repeatedly billing me for a feature that is included...

What about customers that call back wit legitimate problems? I was sent this termination letter because I had to call every month to have them reverse the charge for the unlimited text messaging that was one of the big selling points of the contract I have now. Every month they keep charging me for the unlimited text messaging feature and every month I have to call multiple times to get it fixed. I still have a copy of the plan with the features listed that come with the plan. I've sent it to their customer service before, but they still haven't permanently fixed this billing problem.

Re: Repeatedly billing me for a feature that is included...

If what you say is 100% accurate, then I agree that you got shafted and I offer my sympathy. Having such a positive experience with Sprint myself though, I just have a hard time envisioning this kind of thing happening on a large scale.

Are you going to pursue the issue with Sprint further, or are you going to cut your losses and move on to another provider?

Either way, best of luck.

Re: Repeatedly billing me for a feature that is included...

I'm going to try what I can to stay with Sprint. I've emailed Mr. Gary Forsee (their CEO) about this issue and other Sprint customers at SprintUsers forums have sent the story to a bunch of other sites.

Hopefully Sprint can reverse this decision. I know of no other carrier offering a plan like mine.

Thats Why I Am With Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless has the best customer service, call quality, and billing! Enough Said! Verizon is the most expensive, but you get what you pay for!

complaints

@spcsdns.net

Re: Thats Why I Am With Verizon Wireless

According to complaints.com, Verizon and ATT/Cingular have over 2000 complaints logged. Sprint only has about 1000.

Hilarious

@spcsdns.net

^Now that is the most hilarious post on here. Verizon is horrifying to some, Sprint is horrifying to some, ATT is horrifying to some.

Verizon is great for some. Sprint is great for some. ATT is great for some.

Absolutely ridiculous post.

Sprint woes

The people who are dropped by Sprint are lucky. For about the last five years I have been hounded by bill collectors picking up a couple of my accounts that were messed up by Sprint. I canceled Sprint service because of the mess-ups, and I have a final bill showing a zero balance, yet, somewhere there are a couple of accounts that collectors are buying up and bothering me with. Sandy from the Message Center is the latest (for about a year) in the bunch, but I ignore her recorded messages.

Do not use Sprint. Their accounting department is terrible.

Look on the bright side, only 2 years left....

They finally stopped hounding me for the ETF after they flatout lied to get me to change plans then almost immediately dropped me for being late. hehe phone was paid for and i used like 10 minutes, i must have been costing them a fortune eh.

I specificly asked what the catch was (none of course) and what was diferent from my current plan (just has more nighttime minutes). The fact my original plan had no ETF and this one did was never mentioned :/

None of that has stopped telemarketers trying to sell me sprint service oddly enough :O

BTW, they don't tell the collections companies that 2-3 other companies have tried to collect on same bill unsuccessfully. They like to work both ends it seems. I would convince one company that it is not a valid debt and it would end up at another company!

I hope this is true

I have been fighting with Sprint for 6 months straight over one bill mess up after another. Everything from sending me out a phone I did not ask for to an address I has 2 years ago and billing me for it, to adding up sale charges without me knowing. They would soft credit all of the screw up and then it would be right back on there the next month. And then they would call me harassing about paying the reversed charges, which they caused with their screw ups to begin with. Not to mention the 3 months it took calling in just to finally get them to block text messages on our phones for good. I am working on month 7 now fighting with them over the mysterious phone that was sent out.. I told them I was past tired of the crappy excuse for service. 50% of the time I get hung up on. The other half they just want to have an attitude. I wanted out of the contract last month due to lack of support on their side. I even threatened to go to the Attorney General if they did not fix things. Customers should not be subjected to these headaches month after month.

Sprint is going to wave penalties?

Sprint is also going to wave the two year commitment penalty for early termination of service? I'm going to start calling them once a day until I get a letter from them!

....We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone?

I saw the Soup Nazi episode of Seinfeld tonight and it reminded me of this.

I guess that Sprint reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason, so I'd say this is within their rights.

But I've seen situations when I worked for a really Big Blue company where we had a customer call in for support about 1000 times in the span of 1 calendar year (roughly 3 times/day) and at that point he got banned from using the tech support service as he would just call up and just blab about anything and not have a problem with his computer at all.

That creates a bottleneck for those who have real problems, so the point that it comes down to, is does 1 customer have the right to monopolize the service and waste the companys time? ...Absolutely not.

sprint

I think it's a good move. Some people are just complaining too much, and if it doesn't work out, best to be on their own ways.

They sell service, and they should/do have the right to refuse service. They did not put a gun in your head and tell you to buy their service.

Another stupid post. I wouldn't have joined them had it not been for the great plan and the recommendations from people back when I joined. That has changed and if I wanted to leave I would be stuck to finish the two year contract or pay the ETF. I don't want to leave though. Their CS has been horrible with billing, but this plan is the best (for me) that I have seen anywhere.

About time to make the lead.

I wish that we could do that to the clients that continuously call every week twice a week asking about their accounts, but the management will not let us.

More companies & government agencies should follow suit and do the same.

this is why i love tmobile

tmobile is really helpfull when evey you call them up if they make a mistake they fix it right away and usualy copensate you. My mom has sprint and its a nightmare every month she gets billed for txt messaging and internet access when she dosnt have internet access and numerious times they told us they blocked all txt messageing. On top of that sprint picks and chooses what customers can see there calls and which cant I knwo when i loog into sprint with my moms account i can see ever call made on the account and fight ones that she didnt make but another friend of mine had sprint and they told him there was no way to pull up a log of all the calls made so he couldnt fight the calls that were not his. On top of the bad customer service the call quality is less then pleasing Sprint phones hit every dead spot my tmobile phone gets and more and even when they are in a area with good signal they echo and sound statically. I get better call quality when i tethering my ppc to my tmobile phone and make skypeout calls to avoide using my last few min on prime time

Billing

Sprint just changed their billing over to Nextel's system last month. Should be much improved as Nextel in the past did not have many billing issues.

Happy Happy Joy Joy

I just called Sprint a few months ago and renegotiated our calling plan. A decrease of about $100- 125 a month.

I am very happy.

the good side about it is that . . .

It looks like if you want to get out of their contract with no ET fee, just start being a PITA by calling them for corrections and concerns on every line item of their billing, calling about how the phone doesn't work right when it's a user error, complaints and pushing the limits of their services etc etc. Maybe, just maybe, that'll trip their software trigger to generate a letter.

These guys ain't too bright. Having lived with their crappy land line and wireless customer service, I can speak to their lack of worth as a top tier service provider. I can say they always had decent network coverage for voice calls.

Silver Lining here folks.

Hey, it's not so bad. Be thankful that you now have a roadmap to get out of your two-year contract early.

new SMART PHONES?!

When is Sprint gonna get some good smart phones such as the Nokia N95 for Sprint with Push to Talk feature added.. they are putting themselves at risk of becoming technology obsolescent handset wise.. and keep pushing only the military style phones. Dumbing down the phones also brings a certain customer base.. Sprint needs smarter customers, so...

get some smart phones..

A way around the ETF?

So.... If you don't like the contract you are in, you can call billing until they cancel your service and avoid the ETF? Sounds like they have given some customers a way out by repeatedly calling billing.

Are they gonna drop everybody?

When I added a third phone to my shared plan, there was a billing error that would charge the extra phone's minutes seperately at 10 cents/minute.

for SIX MONTHS I would need to call for them to fix each bill and they would tell me "it's fixed and won't happen again".

Eventually they fixed it (though it hapened again when I added a fourth phone this year lol)

My point is that Sprint makes me waste my time correcting their problems.

If they send me a letter, I'll send them a thank you note (as long as they pay me for the phones I bought to use with thier POS network).

MissDiva

@atlanticbb.net

I'm the one that got the letter....

Hi everyone. Thanks for the support and the post above me is exactly the type of thing that happened to me. See some background info here if you like:

»forums.buzzaboutwireless.com/baw···.id=1328

It's been 8 years and I now have 24 days to port out (and my bill was already paid, so they didn't "credit" anything!) No one even had the courtesy to call me back from the Executive Offices.

It's too bad b/c for 8 yrs I stuck w/ them despite the problems. It will be interesting to see how this plays out for other people.

Thanks!

This policy started 06/25/2007.. yet folks claim the already received notices from Sprint. I smell lies.

The article from the Consumerist is very misleading.

Customers with billing, technical.... and other issues are not impacted. The policy specifically applies to customers without errors, technical or other issues calling Care repeadtedly...
