That is just too funny! How about the 4000% markup on popcorn at theaters being the cause less people buy it. -- Correcting one "looser" at a time. |

Among the arguments NBC tried to put forth was that broadband p2p use hurts the American farmer because less popcorn is sold: ----------------------------------
ohhh, and dont forget the truck driver that transports that corn, the contractor that paves the road that the truck drives on, the oil company that provides oil for the truck, the mining company that mines the make up of the asphalt.
they hurt too

I can see it now... your ISP will be offering a "filter free" connection to the internet for just $4.95 extra per month. Another revenue stream for the ISP. |

Wait. Maybe you should patent that. "A system by which users can choose unfettered internet access" -- "Regulatory capitalism is when companies invest in lawyers, lobbyists, and politicians, instead of plant, people, and customer service." - former FCC Chairman William Kennard (A real FCC Chairman, unlike the current Corporate Spokesperson in the job!) |

... and then become complicit or liable for "negligence" anytime something "bad" isn't filtered.
Great plan AT&T. |

Um, won't the average movie downloader still eat popcorn while watching it on his computer/tv?
NBC seems to presume that all popcorn sold is sold at the theatre. They also seem to presume popcorn is the only product corn is used in. |

How about my family of four sneaking our candy and drinks in every time we go to the movies because your prices are laughable. With corn prices skyrocketing because of alternative fuels i doubt farmers are hurting. How about 15-20 min of commercials before the movie i paid for. I didn't pay to see your damn commercials. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU greedy bastards. |

In general, corn prices should be up anyways because of E85, and Ethanol. The movie industry (as well as any other interested / controlling comapany) wants... CONTROL. -- Canada = Hollywood North |

And as soon as they've done that filtering, they'll put filters on voice-lines to catch people from reading copyrighted material. After all, imagine the loss to publishers if Mother Goose nursery rhymes are read over the phone instead of those parents buying the book. Or tech-support types from reading (outloud) from the user manual. Nope, nope, nope... I'm very sorry sir, you must first purchase a copy of the manual and prove to me that you did and then we can read it together.
I can see it now: Telephone Operator (Lily Tomlinson) will listen in on every call and interrupt: Oh, gracious me (snort)... you can't say that on the phone, I'm sure I read that in a book.... What? oh really? Well the gub-mint says I can cut your service off.
And then, how about closing all those libraries that blatently encourage the sharing of copyrighted material? Are publishers outraged? And movie distributors? I can borrow a DVD movie from my library... no fee. Quick! Notify the thought police!
What's this country coming to? Sheesh...
This reminds me of little more than the government putting on a deception, er magic show. We'll distract the people with nonsense in this hand, while we really screw them blind with policies created by this other hand. -- There are 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't. |
