Like Illegal Radios in Germany........or.....Certain Girlie Magazines in THIS COUNTRY DURING THE FORTIES AND FIFTIES AND INTO THE SIXTIES ............It's not a matter of WHETHER we will, at some time in the future, lose our rights... Loss of rights has already occurred in this country during periods of fright and other forms of emotional instability on the part of a body politic that actually PAYS to be scared during horror movies and is always SEEKING some one or some group to hate and be scared of.......This pathology that says "Take my rights ... so I can feel safer......(?!)" simply suggests to the mentally stable that you are not responsible enough to handle rights as any adult should be.
The Newscasts of this country had become ludicrous long before NETWORK pointed out the fallacies way back in the seventies (".......way back....." was for the benefit of those who really think that the Seventies WERE ancient history and have absolutely no clue about the aforementioned forties and fifties) But when the guy asked everyone to get up out of their chairs and go to the windows and shout "I'm as Mad as Hell and I'm Not going to take it anymore......" one must recall that Paddy Chayefsky was (not so) subtly pointing out that the guy whose advice we all take IS as MAD AS HELL!!
The Character in the movie and anyone who sits at home and takes the advice of those who urge us to raise our blood pressure with the Color Coded Threat Level are all certifiably INSANE.
Your cure for the insanity of terrorism is, itself, MORE insane than the rudest formerly employed Construction Contractor hunkered down in a cave somewhere in Afghanistan with kidney disease, but with a mental disease that is even of more serious import ...............and if you want to follow him into blithering idiocy..............go right ahead.
But, since you are so willing to give up your rights.... please leave them with those of us who do not wish to forfeit ours and who will guard them more responsibly than you have. | |

But we haven't lost any rights. As a matter of fact the lunatic fringe left in this country has made sure that we've lost nearly every moral right that decent folks in this country treasure. At the same time they've won for themselves the right to do immoral things that decent folks in this country abhor.

There was a time when we were free from open immorality and vice. Well that's all gone now. Now anything goes because everyone's got the right. That Constitution and Bill of Rights has endured much, and a long time, and it will continue to do so. You're not the only ones watching. You're just the most paranoid and the most vocal.

You also totally missed the point of: The person who is so insane as to follow an insane person is more certifiable than the former, whether that person is a Hitler, a Mussolini, a Stalin, A Bin Laden or a BUSH!
But, at least you're not in denial, as you apparently really DID watch the X-Files, dintcha?
This is NOT about hordes of FBI agents crawling over your privacy rights, it is more about ANY given Federal or Local official having the sanction of laws to violate ANYBODY'S rights at will with the "Justification" that the country's emotional stability is at stake, when the actual mob mentality IS the manifestation of emotional INSTABILITY...

That part rings more true today than ever. We can be attacked by the Russians, or the Chinese, or the terrorists or etc..., but WE will be the ones to destroy ourselves, not their attacks.
