Sprint Broadband

I'm already seeing roughly 1.1 down with latencies around 220ms.. When we go Rev.A here I can't imagine how much faster it'll be. Now with WiMax becoming a reality Sprint is positioning itself well.

Your download probably won't improve that much w/ RevA, but your upload and latency will.

I would sign up for this for the simple fact that I have started to detest the non-providers in my area so much (ATT,Charter) even if ATT and Charter started providing service here. I am really glad to see another option being actively pursued.

Chicago by the end of the year...Awesome

I love competition. Our village had been told earlier this year by AT&T that even modest success by Sprint with this technology will force them to reconsider offering DSL here.

Re: Sprint Broadband

Then why do Rev.A users see 2-4mb?

my understanding is that the rev A is limited to under 1.5Mb due to it being a T1 line basically with a little dedicated to something that sprint uses.

Exactly.

I have a RevA card in a RevA area. I am the only person on my tower (very rural area). I get 1300 down. The capacity is on in the card to handle 3.1mbps, but the tower can't push it since it doesn't have a big enough pipe. But, like I said, my upload and latency is greatly improved.

That's nice, about technical support....

Gary! 35 minutes on hold is NOT acceptable.

Now, if Apple would just allow Sprint to combine these features with an iPhone. Heaven.

Re: Sprint Broadband

This could be helped whenever WiMax starts expanding. I heard that they are going to use the WiMax to backhaul the EVDO towers. True or not? I dono. Just what I heard in the ole rumor mill.

There are plenty over on evdomaps.com that were able to get 2-2.5Mbps on RevA. But that's the exception, now the rule. Most get 600k-1.4mbps.

BTW, Sprint WiMAX will also have combo cards that can do EVDO as well.

On that note.. Dell laptops will be shipping with built in evdo-A.. one has to wonder how long behind will it be for them to ship laptops with both platforms.

Why buy this?

When there's SERO available for $30 month that includes a voice plan and unlimited EVDO data (if you pick the right phone that can be tethered w/o them knowing)

In your dreams lol
The vast majority of RevA users get the exact same downstream you are getting right now on Revision 0. I've been on RevA for a few months and never see over 1250 k. I've also traveled a few hundred miles and never seen any faster than this in any of the areas i got RevA coverage in. As others have mentioned, not all towers provide the bandwidth to pull 2+ mb even though the wireless technology itself is capable. If you're lucky, you might be connected to a tower with more capacity, and might be able to pull 2 mb. Look at the speed test results for spcsdns.net.
