This will hurt in the end

there (S)tragedy is a joke and I'm mad because Comcast and qwest are the only two options and I thought maybe qwest might step up their game but I guess they don't have the balls to compete with other ISPS like Verizon to offer next gen broad band services instead rely on aging technolgy.

Old News

We have heard this all before in 1990. What have they done since then? Nothing! Besides, Comcast is way ahead of them in Denver. FTTN is already a reality and FTTH is an obvious next step.

buyout material

They are just waiting on the new AT&T to dangle an attractive buyout offer in front of their face.

Wish I could get a package like that

Does not matter what happens, you get a MINIMUM bonus of $947,000 *PLUS* stock-based incentives. Sounds like incentive to run the business into the ground and get the stocks as high as possible, then dump.

Oh well, better than the $4,400,000 bonus than the last one had.

Overcompensated vulture...

$947,000 minimum bonus ? Sorry, but I thought bonuses were always granted based on performance or profitability. According to the news, the guy gets a guaranteed bonus with this minimum bonus crap ? Man, I'd like to have a minimum bonus for doing jack squat like these executive guys. $deity knows I've got more marketable skills than most of them (considering theirs usually are the ability to play golf and to sit pretty for investor press conferences).

Anyway, the only upside is that this guy HAS TO BE better than Nacchio was.

that's pretty much what I think.....Will the FCC and government allow it? Of course! They'll play the "oh, it might be bad for the people" game, then, just like the AT&T+Bellsouth merger, they'll let them both merge....after all, it does profit the government in NSA heavily...

I'll be CEO..

Just give me a salary of $950,000 with no stock-based incentives and no bonus and I'll be CEO of Qwest. I'm sure I can do better than what they already have.

Nacchio has been out for a while, so that's pretty much a guarantee.

I miss Joe "Nacho" and all his buddies...he really knew how to fleece a company.

Now only if American CEO would adopt the same philosophy as Chinese Ceo's when caught doing no good...hang themselves!
