"We have taken steps to insure that it will not happen again," says AT&T.
Translation: We need to do a better job of covering it up next time. |

1 edit | You talk about how bad Bush is and AT&T will censor you but they will let you use profanity as much as you want. Makes great sense...How much better can AT&T get. Nothing from this company is surprising anymore. Now don't forget it's "Your World Delivered" |

Is anyone even surprised that lies like this would come from a big company? AT&T trying to cover things up? Say it isn't so. |

Is there any coincidence that the AT&T logo looks like the Death Star?
I thought not...

I hope Kelly Curtis(PJ's manager/Pit Bull) is on the phone to the managers of the other bands and the EFF, coordinating some sort of legal recourse in answer to what seems to be a trend here. That is the only sort of thing that AT&T will understand, that will get through their thick skulls.
I will say that I find it highly unlikely that this was a decision made in the executive suites of AT&T. I suspect that this was something being done, in the service of a personal idealogy, by someone considerably farther down the food chain of production, who had access to the dump button, who took it upon him or herself to "do the patriotic thing" and in doing so, went way off the reservation and exposed AT&T to some real legal jeopardy.
AT&T should take this very seriously. The PR on this is abysmal and if it does go to legal guns, they should not underestimate the kung fu of music industry lawyers, for their chi is strong, they have The Iron Egg Discipline, and they fight just as dirty as you can imagine. Some young corporate lawyerin' buck will think he took a ride in a giant food processor, when they get done with him. |

Some young corporate lawyerin' buck will think he took a ride in a giant food processor, when they get done with him. Legal recourse? You have to be freaking kidding me? The AT&T Blue Room is an AT&T owned and operated portal, they can put whatever they want on there and censor whatever they want. The EFF shouldn't get involved (and I donated to the EFF before). Now, if a band signed a contract with AT&T, and in that contract there was a stipulation that AT&T can not filter out the band's content, then the band can hire lawyers and recoup damages.
This isn't 1st Amendment censorship, and it's not even that big of a deal. AT&T is allowed to do what it wants when it comes to a portal site they own. -- The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility, and out of self interest -- for himself, his family, and the future of his country -- to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state. |

PR on this? Honestly, who cares enough to cancel their AT&T service as result of them censoring this? We all know everyone is doing it... you just go from one evil empire to the next.
Freedom of speech are only for thosr in distance to the rock they stand on. Everything else is subject to censorship. You know what - it should be too.
I don't care the bands opinion for or against politics - I don't pay to hear that - just sing you punks. In the same, I don't want to hear some other bands opinions onpolitics, religion, or the like either.
AT&T agreed to broadcast a concert not a political debate. |

I think they should be censored. They're not getting paid for their opinions. It's their job is to play music, so they should play and keep their big pie hole's shut! Last thing I want to hear are the moral views of a bunch of heroin, meth heads. I would get fired if I used my job to express my political views, why should Pearl Jam be able too? Screw Pearl Jam, their music sucks any way. |

If AT&T is going to profit off of PJ, then they have allied themselves with PJ. What PJ says during the event is now part of AT&T.
Sorry corps. When you choose to make your money off of something disreputable or dishonorable, YOU are now disreputable and dishonorable.
By censoring PJ, AT&T is indulging in hypocrisy at every level.

Quit whining. I wish Uverse would censor rap music and country music from entering my tv stream. Along with annoying commercials, heck censor P2P altogether. |
