Let me see I get to pay for the bandwidth and I get to see the ad. Perfect! |

No. But my opinion counts for nothing since I don't own a cell phone and never will. But there are already too many conduits for advertising. When will it be enough that people will get angry about it? I'm already there. |

Or they'll charge $.15 per received ad. Of course, there is the option to sign up for the 100 ad package for $2.99/mo or the unlimited ad package at a mere $5.99/mo. |

1 edit | reply to Anonymous Ain't that the truth. Here's my question though, will you be charged for seeing the ads because I know many carriers charge customers for video clips and such.
It reminds me of back when telemarketers would call cell phone numbers to sell their products. Because it is treated like a cell phone call, the minutes would be used up. Now, it is illegal for telemarketers to call cell phone numbers because there was numerous complaints by cell phone customers. I can see cell phone video advertising going the same way. |

Might be a good idea for letting people on a pre-paid account surf the web. Get a few ads, but dont pay a dime. If it's just a way to suck up more metered bandwidth and charge us more. Hell no. |

What fuckwit at the telcos thought up this drivel. It's already prohibited by law that they can't just arbitrarily beam any kind of unsolicited text message to consumer mobile phones, but now these assclowns are trying to get around that law by transmitting video. Anyone who has a cell phone should contact the FCC ASAP and let them know precisely how you feel about unsolicited video to a mobile phone that you're footing the bandwidth bill. -- The Toll

I see it now...1st the cell companies sell your numbers to advertisers, then they ask you for a fee not to have these calls sent to your phone...they get revenue both ways and the consumer gets reamed (without the curtousy of vasoline )both ways!

Seriously, I'm still looking for the cell phone that's just a phone. No texting, email, web, ringtones, camera, or other junk, just talk.

Definitely NOT! Since I am paying for the bandwidth I am not paying for the privilege of viewing their drivel. If they want to PAY PART OF MY BILL then maybe I would think about it. -- I support the right to keep and arm bears. |

You're not going to find one that has no texting, email, web or ringtones, but, you can probably find one that has no camera, don't buy a plan for texting, email, web or ringtones and set the ringtone to a standard ring sound, and just don't use the other features.
The market has moved away from the phone you're wanting, and it'd be such a niche market that your phone probably won't be created. |

| According to 'some' posters, if you don't you are stealing
Remember, if you don't accept video ads on your phone, you are STEALING. You think those ads are created for free? There's a lot of people whose livelihood depend on the 'consumer' watching those ads. If you block them, or even worse, don't accept them, then you are stealing. It's just like web browsing, if you block ads you are stealing!

said by netwire :Meh, just get Firefox Mobile with AdBlock Plus and all you problems are solved! Muhahahahhahaha! Yep. Spam blockers and pop-up blockers work well for computers, huh? Sure, why not find another way to charge people $29.95 for MORE useless, ineffective software. Next thing you know, they'll be showing countless ads at the movies. Oh wait, they already do that. Ok, next thing you know, stores will have ads on the food seperators or on the floors. Dangit, they do that too. Uhm, here's one: they'll put ads on the parking spaces at the mall. Grrrr. they do that too. Ad placements in videos, movies, tv shows. Done. I expect our currency will have ads in them soon. I may be on to something here. Perhaps we can solve the national debt and SS issues all in one swoop. we can change the motto to "In Wal-Mart we trust", for a hefty fine, of course. Or, are we already doing that too? |
