2/3 of a mile of fiber affected?

From the Yahoo! article:

"The damage affected a large span of cable, more than two-thirds of a mile [1.1 km] long, near Cleveland, TeliaSonera said."

2/3 of a mile? That is isn't someone playing, that's a concerted effort to vandalise the cable.

The guy must have had a truck-load of cartridges to unload into that cable!
