Re: hmmm

It's BS. I bought the Skype Unlimited Calling (Anywhere in Canada/US for a year), but the date's still the same, they didn't give me my seven days...

I didn't even really notice the outage, and no idea of I got the 7 days credit or not. I don't really keep track, for 15 bucks a year it's not really a big deal

I'm not. they should have given a month if anything.
Course thats more than sunrocket ever gave for an outage. course to GIVE 7 days, sunrocket would have had to be UP for 7 days

Why do you think they should give a month of free service for a few days outage?

Holy Cow

@islandhospital.org
Wow

You guys would cry if you got hung with a new rope! "Waaa-I want a month.. waaaa.. I want answers!" TG I'm not running skype. You would've gotten two "replacement" days for the outtage, and not a minute more!

Well here is what happened

Well here is what actually happened to Skype

From issue 2618 of New Scientist magazine, 24 August 2007, page 25

The two-day outage of one of the world's largest peer-to-peer (P2P) interned services has raised concerns about the technology's robustness.

P2P networks are touted as the future of internet distribution for video and TV, since the high bandwidth that would normally be provided by central servers is instead shared between individual network members, removing the problem of data bottlenecks.

But on 16 August, the Skype internet telephony network, which depends on P2P, crashed. MIllions of users' computers had rebooted almost simultaneously during a routine update of Windows software. This reduced the network's resources, and when that multitude of freshly rebooted computers sent their combined log-in requests to Skype, its servers buckled.
