| | | | Re: Better late than never Come on, ATT/SBC are the ones who set up secret rooms in their facilities to enable spying for the Department of Homeland Security. Political censoring comes at no surprise. | |

| You Can Kill the Hooker, Just Don't Have Sex quote: The company says they do still reserve the right to censor the video feed in the case of "excessive sexual content -- nudity or simulated sex acts."
This just made me laugh. There's a maturity expectation for certain band's content (ie. lots of cussing), but God forbid you show a boob. FFS...censor the artist down to PG-13 ratings (ie. wholesome for the whole family), or just don't screw with the feed at all.
I mean, if "Blue Room" is supposed to be "in the concert" as much as they hype...when's the last time you went to a heavy metal concert and expected to have the artists Disney-fy the content for you?

| Re: You Can Kill the Hooker, Just Don't Have Sex I say we quietly adopt legislation requiring nudist-beaches every 10 miles, and maybe we can finally drop the boob-shot-is-bad thing and grow up like the rest of Europe does.
For the land of the free, we sure are sexually inhibited. Which is wierd, because the last time I looked, Eurpoe has religion too, but they don't scream bloody murder about that stuff like we get over here.

Which is wierd, because the last time I looked, Eurpoe has religion too, but they don't scream bloody murder about that stuff like we get over here. It's only a handful of very vocal fundies who scream about any given thing that does not fit into what they believe the rest of us should see or hear. For example, each time the FCC gets a complaint about television content, they make it out like hundreds of thousands complained about the infamous Janet boob exposure, whereas, the ::REALITY:: was something like 20 people -all of the fundie persuasion- actually complained.
If people didn't want to see tits & ass and lots of it on the tube, then we wouldn't be drowning in ridiculous "reality" TV or equally ridiculous comedy sitcoms. Television would be fundie TV 365x24x7. Even Fox would drop questionable shows that don't tow the fundie line, but the ::REALITY:: is that most Americans like their T&A just fine.

| | | | | | Re: You Can Kill the Hooker, Just Don't Have Sex From the tone of your post, I gather you're not a parent. And also share a great amount of hostility towards people of religious persuasion who want at least a modicum of decency on primetime TV. "something like 20 people" - I bet I know where you pulled that figure (and it's not worth repeating here...) Kudos on showing your true colors. | |

Probably not much political talk to be censored at Austin City Limits, but it's nice to know that they won't mess with it anyway.

Yeah, with headlining artists like Bob Dylan, the Indigo Girls and Steve Earle I'm sure it'll be completely free of political statements.

1 edit | here a chick there a chick everywhere a chick chick I am not shocked someone thought it was a good idea-- I don't agree with the policy -- but I am ...not shocked
Remember when a set of chicks were treated as if their right to say what they thought was somehow the evil incarnate?...
Their follow up anthem to the experience -- spoke volumes -- and even if you don't care for their music... I think you should respect that not only did the survive quite a lashing -- but rose above it.
Dixie Chicks, Not Ready To Make Nice Lyrics
Artist: Dixie Chicks Song: Not Ready To Make Nice Album: Taking The Long Way
Forgive, sounds good. Forget, I'm not sure I could. They say time heals everything, But I'm still waiting
I'm through, with doubt, There's nothing left for me to figure out, I've paid a price, and i'll keep paying
I'm not ready to make nice, I'm not ready to back down, I'm still mad as hell And I don't have time To go round and round and round It's too late to make it right I probably wouldn't if I could Cause I'm mad as hell Can't bring myself to do what it is You think I should
I know you said Why can't you just get over it, It turned my whole world around and i kind of like it
I made by bed, and I sleep like a baby, With no regrets and I don't mind saying, It's a sad sad story That a mother will teach her daughter that she ought to hate a perfect stranger. And how in the world Can the words that I said Send somebody so over the edge That they'd write me a letter Saying that I better shut up and sing Or my life will be over
I'm not ready to make nice, I'm not ready to back down, I'm still mad as hell And I don't have time To go round and round and round It's too late to make it right I probably wouldn't if I could Cause I'm mad as hell Can't bring myself to do what it is You think I should

No, but I remember when the public exercised their right say what they thought about the chick's thoughts.
| | | | | Re: here a chick there a chick everywhere a chick chick The public sure did exercise their right to say what they thought about the Dixie Chicks' thoughts, giving the Dixie Chicks new album "Taking The Long Way" their' highest debut album ever, despite Clear Channel's decision to not play said album.
From Wikipedia:
On May 31, 2006, the album took three number one spots of the Billboard magazine. It was number one on the Hot Country Albums, Top Digital Albums, and on the Billboard 200 chart, going Gold in its first week with 526,000 units sold.[1] The second week, the album stayed in the top spot while taking a 48% decline, selling 271,000 units and bringing the album sales total to 797,000 units.[2] In its third and fourth weeks, the album dropped to number two on the chart. During weeks five, six, and seven, the album remained as one of the top five albums in the country. During its eighth week, due to several high-profile new releases, the album was pushed out of the top ten to number eleven. However, on week nine, the album bounced back into the top ten. The album has sold 2,290,489 copies in the US as of July 11, 2007.
