Not too much damage. Had to replace the front brake lever (RH side of the bike, for the un initiated) and a few scratches on the mirror, but otherwise, the bike did ok.
The rider didn't fair as well. I managed to pick the bike back up (about 500 lbs) while my right leg was pinned under it. The next few days were a genuine exercise in soreness. My entire ab section has been KILLING me for about 4 days, and both my legs are still black and blue and my shoulders are killing me.
But, I'm in one piece and so is my bike. My right foot is still hurtin' but it's just sore. Good thing I was wearing boots and jeans like I always do. If I had been in shorts and sneakers, I would've been in the ER for sure.
My plans for the weekend? No brainier. I got the bike back together tonight. It's gonna be 80 and sunny in late November.
My ass is on the bike tomorrow! -- Petty people are disproportionably corrupted by petty power

| | | | Re: Put my bike down last weekend Sorry to hear about the spill. Sounds painful just to hear, but glad you are okay.
As for the sore abs, you should make sure you don't have a cracked rib.
BTW, it's late September, not November. Seems like the spill was worse than you think.

Probably just looking forward to the holidays. I get 3 paid days off in November, on top of regular vacation leave...
As for the ribs, my soreness is a little further down than that, it's more in my guts, but thanks for your concern... -- Petty people are disproportionably corrupted by petty power

Basically, its like Napster and Rhapsody. You get to download music(with DRM) in your PC and its free. You just need to download a small software that will install in the taskbar. The software is basically the setting like where to put the music and stuff. It doesnt have the selection of Napster or Rhapsody, but you will be suprised on the selections.
The name of the free service is Spiral Frog

It's simple tho, just go to www.donotcall.gov and re-register your phone # for another 5 years. -- "Regulatory capitalism is when companies invest in lawyers, lobbyists, and politicians, instead of plant, people, and customer service." - former FCC Chairman William Kennard (A real FCC Chairman, unlike the current Corporate Spokesperson in the job!)

| | | freedom Why did the American revolution take place?
What motivated Mr. Washington et. al. to fight for freedom?
What motivated the French Constitution of 1791?
The truth, is simple. Freedom is the stronger force.
We already have select wireless ISP's injecting ads.
But anyway, freedom is the stronger force. At least in the US, freedom will continue to be recongnized as the stronger force (which creates companies like Media Defender - a for-profit company).
If freedom wasn't important Media Defender wouldn't exist.
We got along fine for tens of thousands of years without the internet, and current management technology simply isn't equipped with the scientific knowlege required to destroy the internet as we know it.
Companies are trying to learn how to use the internet, not how to destroy it. All it takes is producing a quality product -- and if the internet motivates us all to focus on our work - to produce a higher-quality product, to give customers the best value they can get -- then that's a good thing. There's no reasonable CEO in the world that would disagree.
I recommend sea salt - in particular "washed" sea salt.
We have a severe lack of respect for the arts in our society -- starting with the Reagan administraton. If we continue along this path, we will see horrific cultural things occur within our culture.
Independent musicians and filmmakers are our only hope.

In the Spirit of Friday Open Thread, I'll post today, Saturday. I suspect you will read this as a "Lame Duck (Frog)"...[I just don't have any complaints]
..My Dish Sat TV works just great and I live by the DVR ..My Denon DVD player works just great ..My 40" LCD TV is magnificent ..My 20+ year old stereo system is 1000% better than anything you can buy today ..unless you invest $10 grand to duplicate what I have..250 watts per channel "baby cakes" ..My Sat radio works just great, especially thru my stereo ..My cellphone RAZR V3M works just great ..My Sprint service only costs $30/month and I use 600+ minutes per month ..never any overcharges or roaming fees ..My Earthlink DSL works just great ..I can't remember the last time I had an outage ..My 7th Dell computer works just great. This time I got a laptop ..an Inspiron B130 and it only cost me $1,100 "brand new from Dell" It's a full blown config ..My virus software and firewall "work perfectly" ..I have never been infected nor have I been hacked (mind you I am anal about PC Security)
But the absolute best part is my 18 year old self drive lawn mower. I rebuilt it again about two weeks ago and it cost me a whopping $20 from the local lawn mower repair joint. The guy let me take a bunch parts off his "junk heap". A little WD-40 and retro-fitting and whallah..it starts with "one pull", drives itself and I have a newly repaired grass catcher bag ("duck tape" is miraculous).
I guess this really is boring ...but then again I spend a lot of time "playing with my toys that always work"...

| | Vendors...love em or hate em here it goes...
i'm the it mgr for a small muni gov't. not too shabby a gig, it's my all time favorite job. four locations, servers, some apps, and some users. nothing too stressful...other than one vendor i'm having a problem with.
we use a SQL database that has a pretty GUI for tax bills. unfortunately, the GUI needs something to verify the amounts, names, etc. so we contracted a vendor to write a series of pretty access reports to match our database with the assessment database provided to us by the county.
here's the rub: the pretty reports don't want to correctly verify this year, and i've spent the better part of two days trying to get this supposedly highly recommended vendor on the phone to fix the issue. it's probably some table links that need to be updated, but it's their program and we do pay them for support. these guys just can't be bothered. further, they provided zero documentation on how to troubleshoot any issues with their pretty report system.
why, for the love of God can't vendors like this hold up their end of the bargain??
meanwhile, back at the ranch, i've got 3.5 million dollars worth of tax bills that can't be verified, and the boss is looking at me like "what's the holdup??"
I don't like to hate on people, but this is ridiculous. I've called cell phones and gotten voicemail. I've emailed their tech, the president of the company, the office manager...still nothing. In this day and age of 24/7 availability, I'm shocked that they can't get their shit together. I've tried every Access trick in the book I know to no avail to fix the issue myself, but this is a career ending farce that appears to be the vendor's issue.
What should I do?? | |
| dgriff2 join:2007-08-07 Fort Sill, OK | Suddenlink I am a suddenlink customer. I HATE suddenlink. they are monopolistic and useless. they take advantage of people because they are the only HSI provider in the area and it's not even HSI. the FCC defines HSI as any speed faster than 200kbps and thats fine if you've had a dial up modem all these years and want quadruple the speed but the rest of the world is far advanced in the broadband markets. i get the highest speed they offer and it is 1 Mbit for 59.95 a month. and i'm not in a small town. i'm in lawton,ok pop. 100,000+ and i'm on the military base there. SUDDENLINK IS SUDDENLY SUCKING SINCE IT SUDDENLY SACKED CEBRIDGE. | |
