Re: not insane

many rural parts of Canada have good broadband coverage:

Eg. White River, Ontario (pop 1000), 200 miles from any city (Sault Ste. Marie is the closest), and 60 miles from the next nearest town of 5000.

Cable/DSL available from resellers (doesn't require TV service or local/ld) from Vianet »www.vianet.ca

Cable broadband 5Mbps
* $37.95 / month
* Modem rental included
* Download Speeds up to 5 Mbps
* Upload Speeds up to 512 Kb
* Data Transfer Limit - 60 GB/month
* No charge dial-up access if Cable connection fails

DSL:
* Free activation until further notice
* $39.99 / month
* Modem rental and software included
* Up to 5 Mbps download speed
* Up to 800 Kbps upload speed

Need faster... tap into the OC-192

It won't change anything.

A backwater place will just become a "connected" backwater place in 2009. I doubt it will happen anyway. Canadian governments as well as American governments have a talent at announcing things but not delivering them.

Show me the beef!

Doesn't Wyoming qualify as one of the "Rocky Mountain states"? The bastards go right through the middle of it.

Hmmmmmm

@rogers.com

 Useless...

As someone who lives in Ontario, I think the money would be better spent simply evacuating the province of Nova Scotia, declaring it a national park, and relocating its inhabitants to the ethnic ghettos of Montreal.

If they can wire the entire country with copper then they can rewire it with fiber.

of shooting skip on my old CB radio (with only 4 watts, indoor antenna and a stock mic)to Nova Scotia than I do getting HSI from where I'm at. Sad thing is that HSI is only a mile or so away (thanks deathstar and charter).

A drain on society since confederation?

Sorry man, but your province is not the only one that feels slighted about Equalization payments.

At least Alberta has a strong growing economy and not only has the largest GDP per capita per province, but it also produces something more than just lame anonymous posters....

Sorry for feeding the troll but I honestly felt slighted. What's worse is that he slighted the wrong provinces in the first place... man.

Haha someone from New York calling Nova Scotia backwater. That's rich! I guess you don't travel upstate very often, eh?
