 Pivot isn't worth extra $15-$25

$15-$25 on top of a traditional Sprint mobile phone plan will net cable customers mobile video content, email access and web browsing.
I guess there is limited interest. You can get all those things from a std Sprint plan without paying anything extra to Comcast.

And if you want your Comcast email, you can do that with any mobile phone that supports full web access. Just go to

Hope Not

I hope not. There have been too many mergers especially in the telecom industry. Competition is a great thing, and without competition the free market will fail.

NO!

Please Comcast, stay away from Sprint / Nextel. It's bad enough since the merger and we REALLY don't want it to get even worse with your well know lack of cust support, iffy usage policies and whatnot.

Stop being so **** greedy and focus (and spend your massive profits ) on your current service and inferstructure: TV, HSI, and so on..

Comcast buying Sprint - Hope that never happens

The day Comcast is bought by Sprint will be the day I leave Sprint. Had Comcast twice, my first and last time. They CS is worse than Sprint, and the service was out more than it was on. My options for service where I live are limited, but I would rather have less headaches with another provider that doesn't work at my house than deal with Comcast.

I tend to agree. There's no real benefit.

Comcast = pricey Cable provider with caps on data
Sprint = cheap Wireless provider with limited coverage (without roaming) and no caps on data.

Comcast gobbled up Adelphia and swapped markets with TimeWarner in some areas and is doing ok (and increasing prices all the time).
Sprint merged with Nextel, struck a deal with Clearwire on WiMAX and is struggling with keeping subs.

I don't think these 2 companies would work well together.

Nextel is Poison.

Nextel was sick and ailing. Sprint bought Nextel, and now Sprint has Nextel-itous.

If Comcast bought Sprint, they would get the same Nextel-itous that Sprint got.

It's like Nextel was born out of some horrible, evil bad Karma.

I dunno, maybe the company was founded with laundered drug money or something.

Either way, Comcast stay away from Sprint-Nextel! It will mean your demise!!!

WOW....

Close to an hour and none of the cable fanboys are defending their beloved Comcast.

Could it be they realize how bad their customer service is?

WiMAX

I expect someone in the WiMAX game to acquire Sprint. Maybe an Asian telcom company or even Google. A cable company could work too though if they can optimally fit in wireless into the business model.

Sprint is becoming more of a wireless _data_ company. Voice will eventually just be one of many services, not necessarily the primary use.

I spend far more time on my Sprint EVDO card than I do using voice minutes. Am also now doing VoIP over EVDO, which works well in some conditions (Avaya). Should be more consistently usable on WiMAX.

What do you mean 'we' ?
I have Nexthell service, and its recently improved.
Currently my Nextel is more reliable than AT&T 3G.

Screw comcast & sprint. Both of them have shitty customer service. I don't ever want comcast and I don't have want to go back to sprint again. I am very happy with my ATT wireless & DSL service.

Re: Pivot isn't worth extra $15-$25

Both Sprint and Pivot charge $15 for their data services. However that Pivot data plan includes access to the video and multimedia content at no additional charge. Stand-alone Sprint customers have to pay $20-25 for Power Vision services with the video services.

So essentially with Pivot you're getting the Video services for the price of the data services.

Does it really matter? Maybe not for some. Yet since I'm a current Sprint customer this is essentially a free perk when compared to what I'm already paying for. I may not be using it all the time but it is nice to be able to listen to Music Choice or watch the news while sitting around the waiting room.

Nextel iDEN has been around since like 1994, it's been almost perfected where as UMTS hasn't been around long enough to be stable yet. I love my Nextel service though.

Yeah, its pretty dumb. Bundling is supposed to offer value, not be an additional expense! Why would anyone contract for two services, when they can get them separately for less money?? Whoever handles marketing for Pivot should be fired.

Sprint PIvot in NYC

I agree with the statement that Cable Companies are not pushing the service. that's how no one has no news or interest about it, if they were pushing it , then customers would know about it and be interested in it if it helps on the Cable bill's, like I am waiting for Time Warner Cable, New York and New Jersey Division to launch it or even put it on the website. Also its not on the Sprint Website, so post it and people would know and have interest on it .

Thanks

Comcast probably wouldn't even want to buy Sprint Nextel let alone whatever this new thing is. Cell phones are quickly becoming a commodity not some "wow" technology. Most people just want lots of talk time and connections anywhere.
