| Nokias Rock
Nokias are awesome phones, even if us Americans don't think so. If you think about it, the fact that they aren't the most popular here go to show how vain and/or ignorant us Americans are.
I'd say half the reason Nokia isn't #1 in the US is because of the RazR. One of Motorola's biggest pieces of shit, destined to break, is one of our country's hottest selling phones. Why? Because it LOOKS cool. We don't care if it's a POS, we want it because it's cool.
In my experience, Nokia's have the highest signal strength and the longest battery life. They are also the most durable. As a result, they are a few bucks more. Well we Americans can't be bothered with things like good quality and functionality. I mean, it's a cell phone; what the hell does it need a battery or a signal for? No, we need what is cheapest. Thus, Moto and LG have taken over. And I hear at least once a month from one of my friends how they have to get a new phone because their's broke. Meanwhile, I still have my original Nokia brick phone from when T-mobile was still Voicestream. You know what? It still gets a better signal and it's battery lasts longer than a brand new Moto, LG or Samsung. Hell, the only reason I have ever replaced a Nokia of mine.... was to get a better Nokia (until I discovered Win mobile, anyway)! My old Nokia's are such good phones, I've recently sold a couple on Craigslist to college kids who's phones - you guessed it - broke.
The rest of the world has it figured out - spend a little more for a phone that will last you forever. -- There comes a point in your life when you get tired of fixing everything and wiping everyone's ass. But its not giving up. Its realizing that you dont need certain people and the bullshit and drama they bring to your life. |

The last Nokia flip I got (6085) had a defect with the micro SD card slot; NONE of the four cards I had would be recognized.
I traded it in for a Moto L6. No card slot, but it works great and the signal is unbeatable for a GSM phone. -- Don't pay ME back, pay it forward. |

If you don't like it here, you can always move to Europe.
Most people renew their plan and get a new phone every year or 2. So who cares if the phone craps out down the road. You don't keep the same PC for a lifetime either. |

| reply to PolarBear Ok lets take this in another direction. Nokia phones can easily be unlocked and they are cheaper. SO in europe the people who dont get subsidized phones have to shell out more cash so they go for the cheaper one. ALso here in the states, with the free market economy we realized we didnt need this junk so we went for other phones that we liked better. When i used nokia phones it was mainly on the tdma network and all the nokia phones sucked compared to almost any other phone except the audiovox phones(which were worse). Nokia mostly gave these phones away on the cheap so people we end up with them. Recently TMOBILE released hotspot @ Home and they had a nokia phone and a samsung phone. The samsung t409 ran circles around the crappy nokia. Nokia had better specs but its functionality was horrible. I know nokia makes quality networking gear but their phones has something to desire. On the other hand the blackberry 8320 for hotspot@home is great for people just tuning in for H@H.
Siemens makes very reliable and somewhat trendy phones which are big in europe but sadly not as big here in the states. I loved my s46 siemens phone but sadly it is outdated now.
So in our market people voted with thier pocketbook that nokia better bring something better to the table if they want us to buy it. I dont care how large the company is if they put out crap they why should we buy it. -- 3 free for you/3 free for me: Investing Trades : PM Me |

Everyone has different opinions. I have had both Nokia and Motorola. I have yet to need a replacement Motorola be it the Razor or another Motorola. Where as I replaced each of my two previous Nokia phones when I was with T-Mobile two times for each model. That is my luck. I know others have had reverse luck. |

i paid $450 for a "nokia n73 music edition" and i have to say, usa needs to outthrow all other phone brands and bring in nokias... the nokia n95 kicks iphone's ass ... u guys gotta check out www.nseries.com ... all the new nseries phone, if u go to the regular nokia usa site, www.nokiausa.com u wont see a lot of the new phones as the market here is for dumb ppl who think a flip phone is the most happening thing in the world.. whereas if u go to a nokia middle east site, say india for isntance, www.nokia.co.in they have such a nice collection.. all phones features kick ass |

I agree with some of what you say, but I disagree about Nokia. I had Nokia's early on, they suck. For durability I dare you to put the best Nokia up against a ruggedized Motorola phone for Nextel built to US Military Specifications for durability. My old Nextel Moto i90 (which is non MilSpec) took more abuse then any crappy Nokia could handle. Motorola builds some of the toughest most durable phones this planet has ever seen, and as a whole they build THE best communications equipment on the planet when it comes to two way communications for EMS and law enforcement. So the low end phones are trash and the high end phones are good i am hearing people say. Well most people who see a nokia in the store are looking at the ones they are giving away or are cheap so they are ruining their brand image in the states. -- 3 free for you/3 free for me: Investing Trades : PM Me |

| Not true. Nokia covers all from the low end cheap phone to the top of the line. Problem is, US carriers are not going to offer all of them for various reasons and they opted only for the cheap models since they can beat out most of the competition price wise. |

nokia's rule!, i've had 2 of'em in the past 3yrs, both still work!.
i like it, some of the features are better than on other phones, battery charge lasts quite a while, signal is always good(even though i have AT&T), and i've dropped this phone enough times, still works like new. |

The difference between the US and most of the rest of the world is that in the US, the vast majority of phones are sold through the carriers. The carriers in the US want to "own the customer experience" and they view a big brand like Nokia as competition. |

2 phones in three years? so you need to get one all the time. The phone is never tried out for very long or they dont last long enough and you need to get a new one. -- 3 free for you/3 free for me: Investing Trades : PM Me |

does not mean "Best Phone". I've owned Nokia, Moto, and Samsung and I found each phone I've owned had both good and bad points. Just because one company outsells the rest does not make it better.
Their stock is probably more profitable though. |
