It's only 1,280 x 720, but it's ok.

Corrupt or not an image? Try PNG then...

Service is above average

The service is a few notches above average so far. There is a good selection of content, but the quality could be a little better. The quality and playback function is nearly identical to that of NBC Direct. Unfortunately, even though this is being pitched as a new service, the selection of episodes is similar to other online network streams. Most shows, especially ones that are currently airing, do not have full seasons available online. Perhaps this will improve it goes from beta to full release.

Eh.

Hulu is extremely promising. But they really need to work on their compression, on both the standard delivery and the "HD". Don't get me wrong, this is all a big step in the right direction, but it still sorta feels like they're overly conscious of the impact it may have on standard TV viewing and are intentionally crippling the internet delivery.

Netflix's "high quality" stream (cable modem quality, and high end DSL) is far better to anything on Hulu, including the HD. Of course, Netflix delivery is restricted to IE on Windows. Hulu has no such shortcoming. But at the end of the day, if I missed Heroes that week, I'll watch it on Netflix, not on Hulu.

My mini-review

Hulu's been decent so far. I'm having stuttering issues on full-screen using Opera, but it's nothing terrible. I'm enjoying some of the older shows like Lost in Space and Doogie Howser. Family Guy and American Dad are horribly compressed though, and look really bad.

The HD trailers are pretty sweet at 1280x720, and play pretty well on this 2.0GHz machine. Little bit of stuttering, but nothing unwatchable. As long as your network stream handles >2Mbps you'll be fine.

I can't wait until actual shows start appearing in HD.

Hulu is a joke.

Still waiting for my account. Is NBC wanting people to pirate their tv shows by not handing out accounts?

Show updates

Hulu in general is fine!!! Except for one thing,my one bitch being that weekly shows are not updated quickly enough after shows air.

How do I get a beta invite?

Not watchable on TV yet.

I got my beta invite about 3 weeks after I signed up.

I like the format and the line-up so far, but compression of videos makes it darn near impossible to enjoy them on a TV. I have a 32" LCD TV and it's unbearable. Watching on my laptop is great, though.

I got mine about a week ago. I think I signed up when Hulu was announced.

It's censored

Whats the point in watching Conan if Thulsa Dooms head doesnt roll down the steps?

yeah

@comcast.net

Huh ... looks great on my 42" LCD

Hulu is great, but of course there is always never enough content to watch. I enjoy it full screen on my 42 LCD(PC connected, wireless hand held mouse as remote) TV and it looks almost as good as Divx/Xvid stuff!

Also, saves me big bucks on paying that insane cable bill in which I used to use to watch only a few things. I got my A LA Carte now... thanks NBC, joox, joost, tudou and all the other video sites out there!

Hulu is ok.... but

I have a beta account for hulu. It's OK, but......

I have a few problems with hulu.

#1) not all episodes are available online. It seems as if they will only put on the last six episodes online and not allow you to view anything else.

#2) they have clips of shows but not the whole episode.

#3) watching any movie on their site is an exercise in futility as they are censored beyond belief. I attempted to watch the breakfast club using hulu and wound up shutting it off after getting tired of hearing the actors words replaced with 'gosh darned' for the umpteenth time.

#4) nothing is available in the hd gallery other than some old trailers.

I have noticed that it depends on what you are viewing,I was checking some stuff out last night. And some were as you say real full screen and some were not.

For instance check out Tin Man from the Sci Fi channel it is real full screen.
