Wow

I think the next vonage article should be about what companies haven't filed suit against them.

I was thinking about sueing them myself. Surely I can come up with a reason, everyone else has.

Next suits?

I predict suits over Vonage's use of the dial-tone frequencies and DTMF signalling. Maybe even something about full-duplex speech.

The whole purpose, of course, is to sue them out of existence.

If you can't compete on price....

Sue the company out of existence, gone are the days of real competition. No more quality service here, just screw the customer.

I'm torn...

The call quality with Vonage is not that good, but I want to support them in their struggle against 'the man'. Do I switch to Packet8 or some other provider? Not my cable company's phone, the price is 50% more then what I pay for Vonage. I guess I'll just wait for the call quality to slip more, then bail on them.
But if I leave now, I might be able to get the Cisco ATA unlocked.
Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

Why can't vonage compete without using patented technology? The're getting sued because they keep stealing other companies technologies.

Actually, I did.

Supergirl v. Vonage

Supergirl filed suit against Vonage under the federal laws for "Internet Annoyance." The plaintiff said the ads she frequently sees on the Internet are annoying and causes her headaches. An expert in headaches tested the Plaintiff and found the Vonage ads did cause her to have headaches and were clearly annoying on the PET scan running at the time. The doctor said, "I actually now hate these annoying commecials myself. Why do they have to use Orange? And that V log is uhhgglee!"

Re: Next suits?

Vonage has millions of Customers. I think if they did shut down the complaints will finally stack up enough for something to happen.

Once V is gone are they finally going to start suing Comcast? Then the bribes will really fly.

You got the right. What is going on over at Vonage? Not a single defensive patent? Morons.

What next, they get sued by Hershey because some tech is eating a candy bar in the Vonage Data Center?

This is getting ridiculous....

If all of these companies sue over the same patents, then they obviously are infringing on each other as well. You simply should not be able to patent the two spaces after each period in a sentence or the comma. Looks like an orchestrated attempt to eliminate the only company that is able or willing to compete against the telcom monopoly.

I have wondered that myself. If AT&T sues Vonage of something and Verizon sues as well, shouldn't AT&T also being suing Verizon and vise versa?

Sort of like the old math problem that if A=B and B=C, A=C too. Exactly how many "different" and "unique" patents can there be to VoIP??

Re: Wow

now i don't particularly like vonage nor their business practices but it sucks that this company has to be the leader in voip. Basically people will feel if vonage falls so does voip. Now i dont want to hear about comcast's digital phone service.
