Amen to that. Premium cable HSI tiers are 10-20mbps. Yawn.

One last time...again...throughput isn't everything outside of the likes of BBR forum goers. Competition is great and I would eagerly give UVerse a test run if/when it arrives in my area.

Is that 1mbps upstream?

A first for AT&T?

I have not been keeping up with the broadband news.

Maybe not but there is enough of us around that at&t is losing on on lots of potential $$$$. Exactly what is so hard about offering even 8 Mbps? Geez. I can get 10/1 from Charter NOW, soon to be 16/2. When that happens the 10/1 tier will be $50 so why would I pay almost the same for 6/1?

I was reading on the UVERSE forum and the posts I see say that they connect at 25/2.

Re: Yawn 2.0

If you do the math, AT&T's 6/1 service is $30/mth...60% of your Charter service. Money/mth reigns king for a lot of consumers, not the "mine is bigger than yours" bragging right.

I believe the UVerse service has been 1 Mbps upload since it's launch.

If you bundle. Last time I checked you can't just get the internet part without getting the TV part. If I don't want the TV part I'm paying a lot of month for nothing. I live in former BS territory and at&t naked DSL is $47 for 6/512. So yes $50 for 10/1 is MUCH better.

Yea, that was funny in Borat how that humor consultant kept using the "Not!" joke.

If I bundled it wouldn't be bad for the price but seriously what's up with the slow HSI speeds? I don't see why they wouldn't atleast do 8mbit. 6mbit is so two years ago.

Re: Yawn 2.0

There are several discussions regarding subscribing to UVerse and then dropping the TV portion. Comparing AT&T's DSL and UVerse service isn't fair for your price comparison unless you only mean to compare DSL to cable HSI. In our (I'm in BS territory as well) situation, assuming reliable service from both AT&T and the cableco, I'd agree with you that the cost is a wash. The "much better" claim is debatable though.

I agree. Many people think fast internet is just websites loading quickly. And for them, it is. Give them a 3mbps and a 20mbps connection, and they won't be able to tell the difference. I've also actually heard from one of my friends that he is much more satisfied with his Uverse TV over the DirecTV he had, mostly because he had problems with DTV and getting good reception (even after multiple hardware changes).

I agree. I am currently getting 10mb/s on cable and I have heard they are in the middle of a new update to the network that will provide faster speeds soon.

Pardon my suspicion, but is that A LOT of people or only a few ATT employees testing something or getting preferential treatment? A grandfathered package? And also, how many people are actually close enough or have bonded lines and are capable of actually getting those speeds???

Got to love project managers. Yeah, sure, installers will be knocking on people's doors on Christmas Eve (Dec 24th) to install U-verse...

How about a bit more realistic Jan.2, 2008 ?
